Position : Senior Mechanic

Location : Anbar

Function prerequisite:

  •  Minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience in vehicle repair and maintenance.
  •  Previous experience in a supervisory or senior-level mechanic role.
  •  Familiarity with managing preventive maintenance programs for large fleets
  •  Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical systems
  •  Experience using computerized diagnostic tools and fleet management software.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to vehicle maintenance.
  •  Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and vehicle codes.
  •  Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of mechanics and apprentices.
  •  Strong communication skills to coordinate with management, vendors, and team members.
  • Effective time management and problem-solving abilities.
  •  High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Reliability and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptability to new technologies and willingness to pursue further training.
  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various vehicle systems, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and emissions systems
  • Handle complex repairs and provide guidance for troubleshooting unusual issues.
  •  ​Lead and mentor a team of mechanics, apprentices, and technicians, ensuring quality work and adherence to safety standards.
  •  Delegate tasks effectively, provide training, and oversee performance
  •  Monitor fleet performance and reliability.
  • Provide the Fleet Officer with maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and costs.
  •  ​Provide weekly updates to the MTFM and Fleet Officers on vehicles servicing and maintenance status
  • Monitor fleet performance and reliability, implementing preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and costs
  • Ensure that all fleet maintenance activities comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain detailed records of vehicle maintenance, repairs, and inspections for compliance audits and operational transparency.
  •  ​Oversee inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts to ensure the workshop is fully equipped for routine and emergency repairs.
  •  ​Support Logistics in service providers tenders to ensure high-quality service for major vehicle maintenance and procurement of spare parts etc.
  • Support strategic decisions related to fleet expansion, replacement, or the introduction of new technologies.
  • Stay updated on advancements in vehicle technology, diagnostic tools, and industry trends.
  • Introduce and implement new tools, techniques, and systems to enhance workshop productivity and fleet reliability

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Required qualifications:

Education:

Must have:

  • High School Education

Desirable:

  • Certificate in fleet maintenance and/or management 

Experience:

Must have:

  • 5 years’ experience in the service and repair of diesel LGV

Desirable:

  • Experience with Toyota LC, Hilux and Hiace
  • Worked with Humanitarian NGO
