Org. Setting and Reporting
• Supervisor: The incumbent is responsible to Head Health Centre (A) or Deputy Head Health Centre (A) to which he/she is assigned and receives technical supervision from Field Laboratory Services Officer. • Supervisees: Medical Laboratory Technologist and Laboratory Technician in the Health Center.
Responsibilities
• Supervises and directs the work of other staff in the laboratory. • Participates in performance of laboratory tests including serological, bio-chemical, hematology and bacteriological test and ensures that infection prevention measures are consistently followed within the laboratory. • Maintains laboratory equipment, supplies and reagents and prepares estimates of requirements for replenishment of consumable supplies. • Ensures accuracy and completeness of laboratory information in the computerized health information system (e-Health); prepares the monthly and annual laboratory statistical report and follows up integration of laboratory automated systems with e-Health/EMR with Field Laboratory Services Officer (FLSO). • Reviews and analyzes quality control results (internal and external) and makes the necessary intervention. • Updates the programming of the automated laboratory equipment and follows up the preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment. • Supports the Field Laboratory Services Officer (FLSO) in preparing training material, conducts on-the-job training of supervised staff participates in the in-service courses, supervises the internship of laboratory trainees who may be referred by Health Department for training and participates in community health education as and when required. • Provides needed advice and support to Area Health Officer in coordination with FLSO and participates in evaluating bidders of diagnostic supplies with FLSO, when required. • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Education
• A university degree from an accredited educational institution in Medical Laboratory Sciences/Laboratory Medicine, including applied and clinical laboratory sciences, technology, and analysis.
Job – Specific Qualification
• Possession of a license to practice laboratory services (where applicable) is required.
Work Experience
• At least four years of working experience in providing medical laboratory services is required. • Experience in the use of computers, Microsoft Office, and an understanding of their use in health applications is required.
Languages
• Good command of written and spoken English and Arabic. Contract Status: Fixed-Term Appointment for 3 years including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and continuing need. Benefits: Grade HL03, Monthly Salary JD 830.000 fils. Other benefits include Provident Fund contribution (15.4% of basic salary paid by the Agency) & medical insurance.
