The Senior MHPSS Officer is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of mental health and psychosocial support services provided in the Hit area of Anbar Governorate. This individual will provide clinical, technical, and administrative supervision to a team of MHPSS professionals, including clinical psychologists, counselors, social workers, and other relevant staff. They will also play a vital role in program development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, ensuring that services are evidence-based, culturally sensitive, and responsive to the needs of the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Supervision:
• Provide regular clinical supervision to MHPSS staff, including individual and group supervision sessions, case consultations, and review of clinical documentation.
• Ensure that staff members adhere to ethical guidelines, professional standards, and best practices in MHPSS service delivery.
• Offer guidance and support to staff members in complex or challenging cases, promoting professional development and capacity building.
Technical Supervision:
• Oversee the implementation of MHPSS programs and activities, ensuring adherence to project goals, objectives, and timelines.
• Provide technical guidance and support to staff members on assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and intervention strategies.
• Develop and update training materials and protocols for MHPSS services, ensuring that they are evidence-based and culturally appropriate.
• Conduct regular quality assurance checks to monitor the effectiveness of MHPSS interventions and identify areas for improvement.
Administrative Supervision:
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the MHPSS team, including staff scheduling, workload distribution, and resource allocation.
• Develop and implement systems for data collection, monitoring, and evaluation of MHPSS services.
• Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders on program activities, outcomes, challenges, and lessons learned.
• Collaborate with other departments and organizations to ensure coordinated and integrated service delivery.
Program Development and Implementation:
• Participate in the design and development of new MHPSS programs and services, based on identified needs and resources.
• Oversee the implementation of MHPSS programs, ensuring that activities are delivered in a timely and effective manner.
• Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, using data to inform program adjustments and improvements.
Community Outreach and Engagement:
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with community leaders, stakeholders, and other service providers to promote mental health awareness and access to services.
• Participate in community outreach and engagement activities to raise awareness of MHPSS issues and reduce stigma.
• Represent the organization at relevant meetings, workshops, and conferences.
• Master’s degree or higher in Clinical Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Public Health, or a related field.
• Licensed or license-eligible as a mental health professional in the relevant jurisdiction (Iraq).
• Extensive experience (5+ years) in MHPSS program management and supervision, preferably in humanitarian or post-conflict settings.
• Demonstrated expertise in trauma-informed care, evidence-based interventions, and cultural competence.
• Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Fluency in Arabic and English.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working in Iraq or the Middle East region.
• Familiarity with local MHPSS resources, policies, and practices.
• Additional language skills relevant to the target population (e.g., Kurdish, Turkmen).
• Training and experience in supervision and mentoring.
