CIFOR-ICRAF
The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) envision a more equitable world where trees in all landscapes, from drylands to the humid tropics, enhance the environment and well-being for all. CIFOR and ICRAF are non-profit science institutions that build and apply evidence to today’s most pressing challenges, including energy insecurity and the climate and biodiversity crises. Over a combined total of 65 years, we have built vast knowledge on forests and trees outside of forests in agricultural landscapes (agroforestry). Using a multidisciplinary approach, we seek to improve lives and to protect and restore ecosystems. Our work focuses on innovative research, partnering for impact, and engaging with stakeholders on policies and practices to benefit people and the planet. Founded in 1993 and 1978, CIFOR and ICRAF are members of CGIAR, a global research partnership for a food secure future dedicated to reducing poverty, enhancing food and nutrition security, and improving natural resources.
To technically lead and support the work of CIFOR-ICRAF and its consortium partners in their joint role as an Agriculture/Agri-food Systems and Climate Action Impact Partner Organization (IPO) while ensuring integration and synergy with wider Quality for Impact (Q4I) and CIFOR-ICRAF initiatives.
1.Work with program partners to facilitate the development of and
technically review systems-oriented Theories of Change (ToCs) in the context of
African agriculture, agri-food systems, and climate action.
2.Conduct in-depth systems analysis to identify entry points for catalyzing
transformative change in Africa’s agrifood system, while advising on promising
policy and programmatic interventions to act up these.
3.Lead and facilitated formative evaluations to assess project progress,
identify challenges, and recommend adaptive management strategies for improved
outcomes.
4.Conduct summative evaluations to assess program impact, effectiveness,
and sustainability, providing actionable recommendations for future
programming.
5.Design and implement MEL systems to ensure data collection, analysis, and
reporting meet program requirements and donor expectations.
6.Provide technical guidance and capacity development support to partners
and program teams and partners on MEL practices.
7.Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure MEL activities are integrated
into program planning, implementation, and reporting processes.
•Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as Monitoring and Evaluation, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related disciplines.
•Minimum of 10 years of experience in designing and implementing MEL frameworks for international development programs in Africa.
•Proven expertise in developing Theories of Change, conducting systems analysis, formative and summative evaluations, and designing systems-focus MEL systems.
•This is a Globally Recruited position. CIFOR-ICRAF offers competitive remuneration in USD currency commensurate with skills and experience.
•The duty station will be in Nairobi, Kenya CIFOR-ICRAF Offices.
