Job Description:Job Title: Senior Nuclear Systems Modelling ConsultantSalary range: £40,000 to £60,000 per annumLocation: Bristol or Manchester (flexible hybrid working, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home)Closing date for this role is 30th July but we would encourage early applicationsAt Frazer-Nash we have a strong presence within the new-nuclear sector, and our current team of specialists cover a diverse range of different disciplines. We are looking for people who can complement our team in providing technical support to our clients, through:
- Developing new and existing models of nuclear plants using a variety of modelling codes.
- Performing analysis of fault sequences and other system transients to inform design decisions and support safety case submissions.
- Providing technical expertise in understanding the complex thermal-hydraulic phenomena predicted by the modelling.
- Providing model validation support and guidance.
What do we look for in a Senior Nuclear Systems Modelling Consultant?For this role, we are specifically looking for people with previous experience of systems modelling within the nuclear sector to grow and support our current team, allowing us to meet the growing needs of our current and prospective clients. We anticipate that the role will encompass:
- Continuing development of your technical expertise in using thermohydraulic modelling codes.
- Communicating complex concepts and results to our customers in a way that they can be readily understood.
- Developing and strengthening our technical and commercial relationships with our existing clients.
- Expanding our technical capability and client base across the new-nuclear sector.

- Managing all aspects of technical projects, including client communication, project delivery and other staff involved in the project.
- Developing new business by responding to enquiries and writing bids, and representing Frazer-Nash at client meetings, conferences and seminars.

We provide an analytical capability to all of Frazer-Nash, supporting our full range of nuclear, energy, process industry and aviation customers.Requirements:If you have the following, we would be interested to hear from you:
- Experience of applying and understanding nuclear systems codes (e.g. RELAP, GOTHIC, CATHARE, TRACE, VIPRE, S5K) to support the design and/or operation of nuclear power plants.
- Solid understanding of fluid flow, heat transfer, thermal hydraulics and multiphase flows.
- Have a degree in Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics or related discipline, or a similar level of relevant experience.
- The ability to independently manage and deliver projects to meet customer requirements.
- Experience of writing proposals, client liaison and business development.
- Be adept at communicating with clients and others at all levels, including through meetings and presentations, written reports, commercial bids and technical discussions.
Any of the following would also be of interest, but are not essential:
- An ability to code using python, matlab or other software languages, to support or optimise analysis and simulation.
- Experience of providing technical and commercial leadership for small project teams.
- A relevant post-graduate degree.
