Our Adult Mental Health Inpatient team are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our friendly team, who provide skilled care to adults who require an inpatient admission.To be a successful applicant you will need to be a registered nurse, with experience of working with those who have a mental health condition. Preferably with managerial skills to lead your shift as duty senior nurse.You must provide compassionate care to patients and their families.You will play an important role in the team as we aspire to provide excellent care to our patients and develop our service in line with national and local guidance. You will be expected to work within the wider MDT implementing and evaluating care. You will supervise junior staff and students within the team.Main duties of the jobTo lead the clinical management of a designated group of service usersTo allocate work to junior colleagues, reviewing progress and agreed outcomesTo co-ordinate and monitor the delivery of person centred healthcareTo work as a member of the multi disciplinary team in assessing and planning care and responding to changes in service users’ healthTo identify and ensure the provision of the necessary physical care to service usersTo act in a manner to respect the customs, individuality, values, sexuality and spiritual beliefs, actively supporting the individual to fulfil theseTo ensure provision of therapeutic activities, emotional support and stability to clients to ensure effective engagement whilst maintaining professional boundariesTo identify and provide appropriate intervention and emotional support for service usersTo create, develop and maintain professional supportive relationships with all members of staff with other professionals and agencies to enhance recoveryTo ensure prescribed physical observations are undertakenTo work with service users and carers across a wide age range including 16-18 and persons under 65To work in flexible ways with service users who may be difficult to engage or demonstrate a degree of diagnostic uncertaintyTo undertake direct work with service users and their families, including formulating care plans, crisis management, and advocacyTo be confident in using social inclusion, person centred and recovery focussed models of careAbout usHampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is a newly established organisation, bringing together expertise from across mental health, learning disabilities, community, and physical health services.
