About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Payroll & Administration Officer. As a senior member of the payroll team, this role supports the payroll lead to process pays accurately and provide regular route maintenance of the Workforce One Database, with a focus on data integrity and timely processing.
This role acts as a conduit, engaging with the team and stakeholders to ensure positive, efficient, and professional liaisons. This role ensures we provide a service that reflects our values and a great customer experience.
Duties include:
- Ensure the fortnightly payroll is processed accurately and within required timeframes, resulting in the correct payment for all employees.
- Ensure the accurate and efficient completion of payroll adjustments, off cycle payments, back payments, tax and super within required timeframes.
- Review payroll exception reports before payments are made to ensure payroll actions completed across the organisation are correct.
- Provide payroll information to external parties including Australian Bureau of Statistics, Centrelink, Department of Housing, Child Support Agency, and the Australian Tax Office in a timely manner.
- Prepare reports and correspondence and undertake other administrative tasks and payroll processes related to the full range of payroll functions.
- Create new employee master files and maintain complete, reliable, and upto-date payroll records and personnel files to ensure a high level of data integrity and adherence to processes and procedures.
- Process terminations and leave audits including end of contract, resignations, retirements, and redundancies in accordance with the relevant Enterprise Agreement, Awards, provisions, and entitlements.
- Administer and balance end of financial year reporting and prepare
- Payment Summaries and Australian Taxation Officer reports within required timeframes.
- Ensure salary sacrifice payments are uploaded to the organisation’s nominated salary packaging provider on time and in accordance with legislative obligations.
- Interpret legislation, awards, agreements, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and the correct payment for all employees.
- Contribute to the ongoing review of processes, practices, and work systems to identify opportunities to further refine services and processes and enhance the customer experience.
- Ensure that all payroll related enquiries are resolved in a timeframe that meets established service level agreements.
- Promptly identify and escalate priority issues and non-compliance to the Payroll Lead.
- Provide comprehensive payroll administration support that delivers efficient operation of the GTO service delivery.
About You
- Qualification/s in a relevant discipline or demonstrated relevant experience in a similar role.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to accurately process large volumes of work whilst meeting strict timeframes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, to ensure clear and concise information and advice is provided.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and decision-making skills to successfully identify problems, develop solutions, and implement these using a logical and systematic approach.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and systems relevant to the role
- Demonstrated experience in end-to-end payroll processing within a medium to large organisation
- Experience in the interpretation and application of legislation including Awards, Agreements and Long Service Leave.
- Demonstrated sound working knowledge and understanding of Payroll, Taxation, Superannuation and Portable Long Service.
- Experience working in a fast paced and high-volume position.
- Experience processing end of month reconciliations.
- Experience with PeopleSoft highly desirable.
