Senior Payroll & Pensions Administrator

The Directorate of Finance and Legal Services is recruiting for a Senior Payroll and Pensions Administrator who will assist the Payroll & Pensions Manager (deputising in their absence) with the efficient running of the University’s payroll and pensions team ensuring a high standard of customer care and in accordance with the University’s statutory and contractual obligations.

The role involves

  • Preparation of the University’s monthly payroll for internal authorisation and BACS payment.
  • Reconcile and pay monthly pension contributions and monthly annual returns to the University’s pension provides.
  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely monthly statutory returns and monthly payments to HMRC, DWP, UNISON,and GAYE.
  • Assist the Payroll & Pensions Manager with reconciling end of year statutory pension returns and resolve queries to meet the pension scheme’s deadlines.
  • Supervising a team of 2 administrators to ensure timely despatch of day-to-day workload issues.
  • Working with the People Directorate Information Systems (PDIS) team on continuous improvement and systems development.

You will have

  • BTEC Level 3 in Payroll Techniques Payroll Procedures.
  • Payroll and pensions experience at a supervisory level for a large organisation.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK payroll regulations and experience applying the legislation in order to produce a monthly payroll.
  • Knowledge of public sector pensions and experience in the administration of pension schemes.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail working in to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
