The Early Intervention Psychosocial Support Response (EIPSR) program is a joint partnership between Eastern Health and EACH providing both clinical and psychosocial supports to Mental Health Consumers incorporating a holistic strength-based approach enabling Consumers to identify their individual recovery needs.

  • Part-time 0.4FTE (negotiable) opportunity until June 2025
  • Based across both our Boronia and Box Hill offices
  • $47 – $50.5 (depending on experience) + 11% Super + Generous Salary Packaging benefits of up to $18,550

About the role

As a Senior Peer Worker within our EIPSR team, you will utilise your experience as a Grade 2 Peer Worker to form effective and empathetic peer relationships by sharing your lived experience in a purposeful way in the hopes of creating deep connections and move towards a future of hope and possibilities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Utilising Intentional Peer Support principles and tasks to engage with clients and staff.
  • Supporting clients to develop their strengths, wellbeing practices and self-identified recovery goals, as well as their support systems and community connections.
  • Providing one on one peer support to clients and facilitate peer support groups.
  • Collaborating with other staff and service providers to improve understanding of personal recovery and build capacity to provide holistic, inclusive and recovery oriented mental health services.
  • Appropriately managing and actioning issues identified during supervision of EIPSR peer workers in collaboration with the EIPSR Team Leader and Mental Health Manager.

Who we are looking for

We’re seeking a Peer Worker with the ability and willingness to self-reflect and share own experiences of recovery with others for the benefit of advancing their recovery.
The ability to collaborate effectively with young people, families, colleagues, stakeholders will be essential to the success of this role. 

You will also have:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Peer Worker Grade 2 with a sound understanding of intentional peer support.
  • Lived experience of mental illness, substance dependence and/or trauma.
  • Lived experience of the recovery journey.
  • Group facilitation skills.
  • Understanding of and commitment to human rights and social justice, trauma-informed care, and the harm minimisation approach.
  • Personal experience of the public or private mental health or AOD systems (highly regarded).
  • Advanced knowledge of the local area and its health services and other community services (highly regarded).

Qualifications

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work and/or Intentional Peer Support core training certificate.
  • Group facilitation training.
  • Current state-based driver’s license.
  • Training and Delivery of Intentional Peer Support and Consumer Perspective Supervision training (highly regarded).
