About the Opportunity/Role

Our Senior Policy and Project Officer roles have a leading role in managing the development, implementation, monitoring, improvement and evaluation of key policies, programs and projects within NSW business, government and household sectors.  They are pivotal to ensuring our policies and projects are effective, innovative and meet priority objectives while demonstrating good value for public expenditure and achieving critical state outcomes.

These roles represent a terrific opportunity to help take a leading role in delivering real change in how we help transform NSW to a more sustainable future.

About You  

  • Ability to achieve assigned policy and/or programs objectives within a high volume and evolving work environment.
  • You will be confident in dealing with complex and sensitive consultations with diverse stakeholders, within agreed timelines and varying expectations.
  • Able to identify issues and manage interdependencies to deliver policy, project, program and organisational objectives and developing workable solutions for implementation
  • You will have experience in advising and implementing the priorities of deadlines for delivery of policies, projects and/or elements of programs
  • Previous experience leading a team in delivery of policies, projects and/or programs.

Key Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in delivering projects and ensuring outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, and to quality standards.
  • Proven ability in influencing stakeholders to take action on delivering policy or project outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of the operational requirements for successful delivery of sustainability climate change, resilience, adaptation and/or net zero emissions programs.

The Energy, Climate Change and Sustainability Group

Climate Change Sustainability Division – lead the development of policies and programs to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 and build resilience to climate change including major programs such as Net Zero Industry and Innovation, the NSW Hydrogen Strategy, and Climate Adaptation Strategy.

Energy Division – drives policies, programs, regulations and legislation focused on providing reliable, affordable, safe, and secure energy to households and businesses of NSW through program delivery, consumer and competition policy, regulation, energy operations, energy security safeguards and building sustainability.

Strategy Implementation Division – co-ordinates the delivery of key NSW Government energy and emissions strategic projects and policies such as the Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap and NSW MoU with the Commonwealth, providing expertise for evaluation, energy market modelling, market insights and data stewardship.
