We are looking for a talented RE100 Senior Policy Manager to lead our RE100 policy team in London. As Senior Policy Manager, you will make a difference in a world-renowned corporate renewable energy initiative that brings together hundreds of large and ambitious businesses committed to 100% renewable electricity.

About the role

Now in its tenth year, RE100 is successfully driving renewable energy policy change in markets around the world. We are seeking a talented individual to help us to expand this work, as part of our growing RE100 Policy team.

The RE100 Senior Policy Manager will play an important role in leading the delivery of RE100s national and regional programmes as well as providing expertise on renewable energy (energy geeks encouraged!) across Climate Groups portfolio of work in the energy system. The RE100 Policy team is responsible for RE100s policy and programme delivery work and the position will lead RE100s country and regional policy programmes in priority markets which include Japan, South Korea, South Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia.

The RE100 Senior Policy Manager will work with a wide range of stakeholders internally and externally, including the broader RE100 team, regional Climate Group offices (India, China, United States, Europe), Climate Groups Government & Policy team, the technical team at CDP, and RE100 Corporate Members and International Partners.

Some of the responsibilities of the RE100 Policy Manager include:

Policy advocacy

 

  • Drive the roll-out of our ambitious RE100 policy work through development of partnerships with local teams and partner organisations.
  • Manage and deliver policy working groups and policy engagement plans to drive delivery of policy advocacy activities in-country.
  • Support the RE100 Policy team in undertaking analysis of policy and market barriers to corporate procurement of renewable electricity.
  • Plan and develop content and resources for policymakers and energy actors aligned with RE100s Global Policy Messages, including for policy workshops, roundtables and panel discussions including for Climate Week NYC, COP and other global conferences and events.
  • Monitor policy environment for portfolio of countries, capture and communicate key energy policy shifts that impact RE100s work.
  • Work with Climate Groups Government and Policy team to align country policy work across the organisation and ensure consistency of approach to policy outputs.

 

External relationship management

 

  • Oversee relationships with up to 16 international partners and collaborate with them to deliver policy advocacy activities that advance RE100 Global Policy Messages in priority countries.
  • Represent Climate Group, RE100 and other business action campaigns at international events.
  • Cultivate new relationships with diverse stakeholder groups including national government representatives, CSOs, embassies, industry associations, chambers of commerce, and prospective members.

 

 

 

Other

 

  • Lead the Policy Team within the RE100 initiative managing two RE100 Policy Managers and two RE100 Senior Policy Officers.
  • Work with Climate Groups communications team to communicate our global impact.
  • Liaise with colleagues working in the energy system and other business action campaigns including in Climate Groups international offices, as well as the technical team at CDP, to efficiently deliver RE100 activities.
  • Contribute to regular progress reports, annual reports and other matters as required. Contribute to the development of Climate Groups Energy System and wider Climate Group activity by working across teams including sharing insight, expertise, connections- and business development opportunities.

Essential

  • Substantial direct experience in policy, public affairs, renewable electricity/energy, economics, international relations or related fields.
  • Experience developing and delivering policy advocacy strategies and activities from non-profit or private sector stance.
  • Understanding of policy processes, levers and opportunities for influence from non-profit and corporate perspectives, and experience influencing through such channels.
  • Impact oriented and results driven attitude, able to demonstrate contribution to successful impact outcomes and flexible and adaptive planning skills.
  • Extensive project management experience, including project design, delivery, and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Experience in leading and developing high performing teams.
  • Strong organisational skills, with ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment, prioritising and delegating effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience managing risks and challenging relationships.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective collaborative partnerships and strong working relationships across a range of cultural contexts.

Desirable

 

  • Knowledge of renewables landscape, globally and in RE100 priority geographies
  • Experience organising multi-stakeholder convenings, including workshops, roundtables, events etc.
  • Appreciation of commercial and financial drivers for businesses and NGOs
