This role, based in RE100s Policy team, provides an exciting opportunity to make a difference in a world-renowned corporate renewable energy initiative that brings together hundreds of large and ambitious businesses committed to 100% renewable electricity. The successful candidate will provide expertise on renewable energy within RE100 and across Climate Groups energy system. The Senior Policy Officer will play an important role in supporting the delivery of RE100s national and regional programmes, which work for global policy change for zero carbon grids by 2040. Our priority markets include Japan, South Korea, South Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia.

About the role

Now in its tenth year, RE100 is successfully driving policy change for zero carbon grids by 2040 in markets around the world. We are seeking a talented individual to help us to expand this work, as part of our RE100 Policy team.

 

The Senior Policy Officer will play an important role in supporting the delivery of RE100s national and regional programmes as well as providing expertise on renewable energy across Climate Groups portfolio of work in the energy system. The RE100 Policy team is responsible for RE100s policy and programme delivery work in priority markets, including Japan, South Korea, South Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia.

 

The Senior Policy Officer will work with a wide range of stakeholders internally and externally, including the broader RE100 team, regional Climate Group offices (India, China, United States, Europe), the technical team at CDP, and RE100 corporate members and local partners

 

Key responsibilities will include:

 

Energy Expertise and Research

  • Review reports and other sources and advise on technical considerations for RE100’s policy work.
  • Capture and communicate key energy policy shifts that impact RE100s work.
  • Contribute to opportunity scoping exercises, including policy and market barriers to corporate procurement of renewable electricity, and stakeholder mapping for priority countries and regional programmes.

 

Policy

  • Contribute to the management and delivery of policy working groups, policy engagement plans, and the development of policy messages.
  • Plan and develop content for a range of events including policy workshops, roundtables and panel discussions including for Climate Week NYC, COP and other global conferences and events.
  • Support the development of resources for policymakers and energy actors aligned with RE100s Global Policy Messages.

 

Project Management

  • Develop and deliver of policy and programme activities, in collaboration with partners and RE100 member companies.
  • Coordinate relationships with RE100s Local Campaign Partners, operating in priority markets.
  • Liaise with colleagues across different teams to ensure plans are developed with clear objectives, scope, desired outcomes and deliverables.
  • Track policy engagement and report against impact indicators.

Essential:

  • Knowledge of renewable electricity markets, ideally with experience in a policy, public affairs and/or communications capacity;
  • Strong research and writing skills and ability to synthesise policy messaging from complex content;
  • Strong organisational skills, with attention to detail and ability to multi-task;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across a range of cultural contexts;
  • Experience working on impactful projects or campaigns;
  • Commitment to the mission of Climate Group and RE100

 

Desirable:

  • Qualification or direct experience in energy, policy, public affairs, economics, international relations or related fields;
  • Experience working in or in partnership with the private sector and ideally with senior stakeholders;
  • Experience organising events that convene a range of stakeholders;
  • Experience working in emerging markets;
  • Appreciation of commercial and financial drivers for businesses and NGOs

Youll be based in our London head office near Tower Bridge, and will enjoy the benefits of flexible and hybrid working: 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

The salary offered is £33,610 – £36,970 per annum, based on experience.
