About the program
Navigator is a program funded by state government which aims to support disengaged learners aged 12 to 17 to re-engage with an education or training. The program works closely with families and schools and uses assertive outreach, case management and restorative practice principles to re-engage young people back into learning pathways.
The program is delivered by Jesuit Social Services in partnership with the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) in the Brimbank Melton, Inner Eastern Melbourne, Hume Merri-bek, and North Eastern Melbourne areas.
The Navigator Program is a dynamic team, which comprises Senior Practitioners, Case Managers and Intake and Assessment and Active Hold Workers. We work closely with local schools, support services and the regional Department of Education (DE) office.
About the role
An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably experienced and qualified individual to take on a Senior Practitioner role with this initiative. This role will be responsible for providing support and supervision to a team of case workers as well as providing individually tailored support to disengaged learners within the context of their families, whilst developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across a range of sectors.
This is a fixed term position until January 2025.
The Brimbank Melton team operate from the Sunshine office.
Attractive salary in the range of $93,860- $98,108 per annum, plus salary packaging benefit, is offered together with ongoing professional and career development.
Candidate requirements
- Tertiary qualification/s and/or relevant experience in field.
- Experience in providing management, support, mentoring and supervision to a team of case managers.
- An understanding of adolescent development and the factors that can contribute to a young person’s disengagement from learning.
- Knowledge and experience in appropriate interventions/skills required to support young people and families from vulnerable, culturally diverse and marginalised communities and a clear understanding of case management, intensive support, crisis intervention and assertive outreach.
