Senior / Principal Consultant (Ornithology)

ADAS, part of the RSK Group is seeking
Senior/Principal Ecologist with
strong Ornithological skills to join our team. The role is permanent,
flexible 
and home based and will be associated with one of our
regional offices.

ADAS is currently expanding our specialist ornithological team and we are keen to find an
ecologist with experience in designing surveys and mitigation for small and large-scale
developments, contributions to Environmental Impact Assessments and with the drive to lead the
ornithology team. Our Ecology business comprises a highly skilled team focused on providing
services to a wide range of clients, particularly developers, utility companies and the
renewable energy and rural industries.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading on the ornithological input to key infrastructure projects of local and national
    significance
  • Undertaking a range of ornithological surveys including breeding bird, wintering bird and
    vantage point surveys
  • Data management and GIS (or equivalent) mapping
  • Undertaking other ecological surveys, such as ecological constraints surveys, Preliminary
    Ecological Appraisals and protected species surveys
  • Writing of technical reports such as Environmental Impact Assessments, Environmental
    Statements and Habitats Regulations Assessments

Person Specification:

  • Graduate level education in a relevant subject
  • Strong bird identification skills (aural and visual)
  • CIEEM Associate membership or above
  • Knowledge of ecology, legislation, and survey techniques
  • Experience of managing projects and liaising effectively with clients
  • Excellent written communication skills and be able to produce accurate technical reports
  • Knowledge and experience of Collision Risk Modelling (desirable)
  • A pro-active attitude to managing your own time, finding solutions and ensuring that work
    is delivered on time and to the required standards
  • A full driving licence, access to your own vehicle and be commutable to one of our offices

Salary / Benefits:

  • Paying £30,000 – £45,000 pa depending on experience
