Job Summary
The Senior Program Manager manages the development and execution of high quality programs and related activities at Healthforce Center at UCSF. Under the direction of department leadership and in partnership with external program leadership, this individual serves as the project manager for one or more programs, working with funders, program faculty and participants, and project team members at all levels to develop programs and ensure that the programs are implemented according to plan. This role involves supporting supervisory, management, and other training efforts for Healthforce Center’s program participants who are health care professionals, including but not limited to physicians, nurses, and other clinicians and community clinic leaders and other health care administrators. Program participants come from health care organizations and health care support organizations throughout California and beyond. This individual works independently receiving little direction regarding responsibilities for ongoing programs and general instructions on new program assignments, projects, and initiatives.
Our work is constantly evolving and comes with opportunities to work on different projects. Sample projects and the work associated with this role include:
- Review the scope of work for a consulting project on burnout among health care workers, propose an implementation plan; develop and manage a timeline for deliverables; communicate with staff, faculty and key stakeholders with questions, progress updates, etc; conduct literature review and synthesize information into key themes and recommendations for review by senior leadership and submission to the client.
- Create and implement a technical assistance portfolio (e.g., workshops, webinars with subject matter experts) for a network of health organizations across the state by supporting co-design sessions with participants, researching health care topics and emerging issues, identifying experts and exemplars from across the country through outreach, and iterating on TA concepts, content, and approach with mutliple stakeholders, writing summaries of TA content, and running virtual TA events.
- Execute on a leadership development program by coordinating and communicating with internal and external faculty, staff and participants to deliver program content; analyzing program evaluation results and recommend program changes to senior leadership; and sharing key learnings across Healthforce Center. Participants of our programs vary and include physicians, nurses, community clinic leaders, other health care administrators, and more.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Minimum 5+ years of related experience
- 5-10 years relevant experience and / or equivalent experience / training
- Experience working on a grant-funded program.
- Advanced analytical / problem-solving skills.
- Advanced knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.
- Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
- Thorough knowledge of organizational or initiative processes, protocols and procedures.
- Advanced project management skills.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and influence, both verbally and in writing.
- Advanced knowledge of common organizational research-specific and other computer application programs. (Microsoft Office, Teams, Zoom)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- Valid CA driver’s license (must be able to travel to seminars and events)
- PMI or PMP certification
