Job Summary The Faculty of Open Learning and Career Development (FOLCD) develops and delivers innovative and diverse educational programs for more than 5000 students annually to help them navigate the changing world of learning and work. Reporting to the Director, English Language Studies and University Access, Senior Program Manager IPY is directly responsible for the management of the Faculty’s International Pathway Year Program including but not limited to recruitment and business, student advising, program management & administration and quality control.
Key Responsibilities
  • Creates and implements the business development, marketing and recruitment plan for the Program, in consultation with the ELS and UPrep program teams, FOLCD Marketing Team and the Registrar’s Office undergraduate recruitment team.
  • Leverages existing and new international contacts in the Canadian trade commission service, agencies, high schools and other relevant organizations to promote and market the program.
  • Responsible for the management and oversight of the day-to-day operations of the International Pathway Year program and keeping up to date on admissions requirements for Dalhousie undergraduate programs, English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and University Preparation (UPrep) programs, Dalhousie student services, and first-year housing options.
  • Regularly tracks key performance metrics, including enrollments, successful program completion, cost against budget.
  • Manages all aspects of IPY student advising regarding course selection, prerequisites, course sustainability, withdrawals, cancellations etc.; carries out referrals to other Dalhousie units and services as required.
Note The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Please note that occasional international travel is an expectation in this position.
Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in in business, adult education, or English language studies or a related discipline, plus approximately three to five years’ experience in progressive management and administration responsibilities (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Prior experience working in international education, international business development, student recruitment or marketing.
  • Demonstrated planning, organizing, project management, and supervising skills, as well as the ability to work as a member of a multi-functional team.
  • Intercultural and interpersonal competencies.
  • Excellent problem solving, communication (written and verbal), time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Fluency in Spanish.
Assets
  • Knowledge of student records platforms such as DestinyOne, Banner, etc.
  • Proficiency in a language other than English and Spanish
  • Experience working with international students in an education, for-profit or entrepreneurial context.
  • Proven track record with all elements of course delivery, change management, working with academics and subject matter experts.
