About the role

This exciting and diverse position will:

  • Support the implementation and monitoring of the headspace First Nations Strategy.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of various projects led by the Cultural Practice and Engagement team in response to the Strategy.
  • Support the Program Manager, First Nations Participation and Governance to embed robust and appropriate cultural governance across the organisation.
  • Work collaboratively with consultants to deliver Strategy projects such as headspace’s Cultural Safety Framework and its Resource Development Framework.

The Senior Project and Strategy Advisor will work cross-divisionally with the People & Culture division to support the roll out of cultural capability training across headspace National, and promote its importance to headspace centres, Lead Agencies and Primary Health Networks.

This successful applicant will also work with the Strategy, Impact and Policy Division assisting work exploring the cultural appropriateness of headspace data collection.

It is an essential operational requirement that this position is occupied by an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person.*

headspace is seeking someone with:

  • Tertiary qualifications or comparable experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health or Mental Health, Human Services, Human Resources, Social Science, Data Analytics, Evaluation, or related discipline.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and the impacts of colonisation on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.
  • Exceptional leadership, planning and program/project management skills at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Capacity to assess and manage risk, problem solve and negotiate successful outcomes.
  • Ability to work in a highly productive environment with time pressures whilst managing multiple tasks.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a broad range of people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
