Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship
The position of Senior Project Assistant is assigned to the Sri Lanka Resident Mission (SLRM) within the South Asia Department. You will be based at SLRM Office in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
You will report to the designated International Staff and/or senior National Staff.
Your Role
As a Senior Project Assistant, you will provide support to the functions of country operations, project processing, and project administration in SLRM in general.
You will:
• Assist in the day-to-day operations of country operations.
• Contribute to processing of new projects, programs and technical assistance (TA) and to project and TA administration. Monitor implementation progress and update project/TA performance reports.
• Assist in following-up with executing agencies (EAs) and implementing agencies (IAs) on timely submission of withdrawal applications, project progress reports, audited financial statements, and audited project accounts.
• Assist in preparing contract awards and disbursement projections. Monitor and follow up with EAs/IAs on timely procurement/contract awards.
• Assist in reviewing procurement documents, prepare draft comments on the documents, and drafts responses on procurement matters.
• Assist in the capacity development activities of SLRM for EA/IA staff.
• Assist in the recruitment of consultants, managing their contracts, and monitoring performance.
• Assist in preparation of Technical Assistance Completion Reports (TCRs) and Project Completion Reports (PCRs) including data and information, appendixes, as well as formatting of the reports.
• Participate in various missions as required such as inception, review, mid-term mission, and project completion report missions.
• Performs any other duties as required and reflected in the incumbent’s work plan.
Qualifications
You will need:
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (preferably engineering and finance).
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience and knowledge of various stages of the project cycle, including procurement, contract administration, and progress management.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with teams and individuals from different cultural/national backgrounds.
• Ability to liaise and work effectively with representatives/officials from the government, private sector, donor agencies and executing agencies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Proficiency in the use of technology packages (common word-processing, spreadsheets and graphics, PowerPoint and web-browsing and search engines.

This is a fixed term appointment with an option to renew for an initial period of 3 years following Section 3.1 (b) of Administrative Order No. 2.01 (“Recruitment and Appointment’). This appointment is not convertible to a regular appointment. It may be extended on an exceptional basis for a further fixed period at the option of ADB. This appointment is open to internal and external applicants.
