Offer Description
About us
The Faculty of Medicine and Health is an innovative and dynamic research-intensive faculty which is passionate about excellence, equity, and engagement globally and regionally. The Central Clinical School is closely linked and positioned near Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH).
The successful applicant will work within the Centre of Research Excellence – Pulmonary Fibrosis (CRE-PF) together with the Department of Respiratory Medicine, RPAH. The CRE-PF is located at the University close to RPAH.
The NHMRC CRE-PF facilitates research, research training, translation, and collaboration into Pulmonary Fibrosis. The Australasian Interstitial Lung Disease Registry (AILDR) is an essential component of the CRE-PF, with the aim of creating a unique platform to facilitate ILD research. Established in 2014 with a pilot, the AILDR now has more than 20 sites participating across Australia and New Zealand. The AILDR uses a REDCap platform that captures detailed clinical information including tracking of biobanked samples (tissue, blood and BAL). A large linked CT scan repository is maintained on a XNAT platform.
Since our inception 160 years ago, the University of Sydney has led to improve the world around us. We believe in education for all and that effective leadership makes lives better. These same values are reflected in our approach to diversity and inclusion and underpin our long-term strategy for growth. We’re Australia’s first university and have an outstanding global reputation for academic and research excellence. Across our campuses, we employ over 8,100 academic and non-academic staff who support over 73,000 students.
We are undergoing significant transformative change which brings opportunity for innovation, progressive thinking, breaking with convention, challenging the status quo, and improving the world around us.
About the opportunity
The Senior Project Officer reports to and works directly with the Chair of the Australasian Interstitial Lung Disease Registry (AILDR) Steering Committee (SC), Professor Tamera Corte and liaises with members of the AILDR Steering Committee and Network.
The Senior Project Officer is responsible for supporting strategic AILDR research projects, including the Biobank and CT scan repository, involving project implementation and day-to-day operations and administration of these components of AILDR. The Senior Project Officer will coordinate and manage the relationships and communications with Biobanks, the University of Sydney Imaging Data Service, AILDR Steering Committee and Network members, Human Research Ethics Committees, Research Governance Offices and Radiology Departments.
They will prepare applications, risk assessments, data and material transfer agreements, and collate all mandatory documentation related to these AILDR components. They will encourage and facilitate sites to enter scans and data, collect samples and facilitate and promote Registry data quality and accuracy. In addition, they will work with the CRE-PF Project Manager and AILDR Manager on specific digitisation projects to improve the interoperability of AILDR with various PACS, sample tracking systems and eMRs
