The opportunity

Due to the company’s continuing growth, we require a Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen the existing Commercial Team.

About the role

As a result of successful company growth, we are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team supporting projects across the Scotland region. Our commercial team interact with all departments to ensure our projects are delivered on time and to budget. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor at Vital Energi you will work closely with our project teams to manage key commercial activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Review of contract documentation upon receipt from client to ensure compatibility with the company’s tender and subsequent negotiations
  • Assessment of contractual terms and conditions and negotiate amendments with the client where required by the Commercial Manager
  • Producing commercial risk register for each contract. Monitor risk and assist in implementation of agreed mitigation measures
  • Prepare and issue enquiries for major plant & equipment and sub-contract packages
  • Review of quotations commercially and negotiation of price and terms with vendors
  • Prepare and submit applications for payment and/or Invoices, obtain payment certificates and progress client payments in accordance with contractual provisions.
  • Measure, submit and agree variations, loss & expense and/or compensation events in accordance with contractual provisions to facilitate prompt agreement of final accounts.
  • Monitor on-site record keeping. Prepare and issue notices in accordance with contractual provisions.
  • Prepare and submit monthly cost value reconciliations and cash/ spend profiles.
  • Attending contract review meetings.
  • Measure, certify and agree sub-contractors interim valuations and final accounts.
  • Preparing and issuing contractual notices to sub-contractors.
  • Assisting the Finance Department in securing payment of invoices and/or applications for payment

What you will need

Qualifications

  • Educated to a Degree level in Quantity Surveying or Building Services Engineering discipline
  • Experience of NEC contracts
  • Demonstrable experience in a quantity surveyor role within with evidence of commercial management success
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with proven experience in resolving difficult or disputed accounts to finality
  • Experience of Financial and Contract Management software packages (desirable)

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft software packages including, Excel, Word, Outlook and Powerpoint
  • Full UK driving licence – as you will be required to travel to sites across the region
