Senior Quantity Surveyor – Sizewell C – London Projects Office based
Balfour Beatty
About the roleAs part of our plan to secure a low-carbon energy future, EDF Energy is leading the way in building a fleet of safe, reliable nuclear power stations in the UK. Sizewell C (SZC) is a proposed new nuclear station that is being developed with a target to start construction at the end of 2023. It is a nationally significant infrastructure project with a very important role in the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. The project will have a big impact in the drive to reduce carbon emissions in the UK.The SZC Project Team is a growing, diverse and collaborative organisation committed to engaging stakeholders, obtaining development consent and preparing the project for the start of construction. The Quality function within the Project Delivery Organisation (PDO) is an integral part of this project, responsible for the Integrated Management System (IMS) and associated regulatory Licence Conditions. The proposed delivery model for SZC has been developed around three layers: Client; Project Delivery Organisation Integrator (PDO Integrator) and Programmes. The Client defines the project requirements (safety/quality/time/cost), and the PDO delivers those requirements (and helps to manage interfaces). The Client controls the PDO. The Project Delivery Organisation (PDO) is made by both the Integrator and the Programmes. What you’ll be doingA Senior Quantity Surveyor is an experienced QS who has a track record in managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures.
