About the Role
You will be a key member of our HR team, responsible for driving our talent strategy to attract, engage, and retain top talent across the organisation. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will not only develop and execute recruitment strategies but also manage end to-end recruitment activities, ensuring they align with ALS’s strategic objectives.
You will lead and mentor a dynamic recruitment team, foster resilience, and cultivate a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Your role will be pivotal in supporting ALS’s growth.

Born out of a protest movement over 50 years ago, the ALS is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation delivering high-quality, culturally safe legal and support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in NSW and the ACT. It’s an exciting time to be joining us.

What We’re Looking For:
- Proven Recruitment Expertise: Experience in end-to-end recruitment, including high-volume and complex projects.
- Strategic Talent Management: Ability to develop and implement talent acquisition strategies aligned with organisational goals.
- Leadership and Mentorship Skills: Experience leading and developing recruitment teams of all sizes and complexity, fostering a culture of excellence.
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) such as JobAdder and data-driven recruitment strategies.
- Resilience and Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Cultural Competence: Understanding and respect for Aboriginal cultural practices, values, and community needs.
Desirable:
You bring a deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and communities and/or have lived experience that enhances your ability to connect and engage effectively.
