The Senior Research Assistant position will provide an opportunity for aspiring researchers to get to work in the research-based environment at icddr,b.
The Senior Research Assistant will report to the Assistant Scientist and will be responsible for data collection tool development, data analysis & management, and report writing. S/he will be involved in:
  • Work with the Principal Investigator (PI) in creating research design and methodology to achieve the study objectives;
  • Understand project scope, questionnaire, and survey methodology for timely data collection, inconsistency checking, and resolving problems with data management;
  • Supervise data collection and maintain quality assurance; Validate collected data with the supervisor;
  • Conduct periodic field visits for coordination and mitigating operational challenges;
  • Maintain the coordination between the central team and field team;
  • Identify the problems of operational difficulties of data collection; Escalate issues and seek guidance from the supervisor to resolve issues in interacting with respondents and in collecting data;
  • Analyze data driven from the ongoing projects and draw scientific inferences using appropriate statistical techniques and modeling;
  • Prepare presentation slides and assist the PI in making presentations in different scientific forums;
  • Participate and present the findings in different national and International forums;
  • Write study reports and articles for peer-reviewed journals;
Required qualifications and experience:
  • Master’s degree in Statistics from a reputed institute with excellent academic records;
  • 3 years experience relevant field. Experience in longitudinal data analysis, dashboard management, and NCD digital systems will be an added advantage;
  • Must have strong critical thinking skills, the ability to identify substantive problems that threaten the research activities, and the creative capacity to resolve these problems. S/he should be proactive, dynamic, and capable of working independently.
