Department Summary |
The Center for Human Identification (CHI) is an accredited forensic laboratory on the campus of The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth. With funding from the State of Texas and various Federal Government agencies, CHI supports forensic DNA testing, anthropological examinations, local CODIS operations, training, and various research and development initiatives. CHI also manages the Texas Missing Persons DNA Database. |

Assists scientists with various research-related activities. Plans, organizes, and conducts research in a specified field for use in own work or projects of sponsored institutions. |

Minimum Qualifications |
Master’s degree and (5) years experience developing, maintaining and analyzing budgets relevant to research projects or equivalent combination of education and experience. |

Job Duties
o |
Assist PI with active federally-funded studies. |
o |
Must have experience with probabilistic genotyping software (e.g. STRmix, EuroForMix). NGS experience preferred, but not required. |
o |
Perform statistical analyses, including selecting the appropriate analysis procedure, preparing data for analysis, judging validity and reliability of results, and producing written reports on the result of the analyses. |
o |
Develop plans for project or studies guidelines for project prepared by professional staff member to outline research procedures to be followed. |
o |
Plan schedule according to variety of methods to be used, availability and quantity of resources. Conducts research to collect, record, analyze and evaluate data. |
o |
Analyze experimental data and interpret results to write reports and summaries of findings. |
o |
Must have experience with software programs to analyze and graph data. Experience with the program language R is preferred. |
o |
Keep detailed logs of all work-related activities. |
o |
Use computers, computer-interfaced equipment, or high-technology industrial applications to perform work duties. |
o |
Prepare reports of completed projects for publication in peer-reviewed technical journals, for presentation to agency requesting project, or for use in further applied or theoretical research activities. |
