Senior Research Associate in Mixed Methods

The post-holder will be responsible for organising and conducting interviews with General Practitioners (GPs) and Early Intervention Teams (EITs), and patients.  The purpose of the interviews will be to explore participants’ views on the acceptability and implications of using a risk prediction tool (P risk) in general practice, to help identify patients at risk of developing psychosis. The post-holder will also lead on data analysis and dissemination of findings. The post-holder will also be responsible for general project management for the P Risk study and for collecting basic quantitative data relevant to the operation of P Risk in a primary care environment.

The key responsibilities of the post holder will be to organise and undertake qualitative interviews, lead on analysis and write up of the qualitative data, disseminate findings via peer reviewed journal publications and conference presentations.  They will also take part in P Risk study team meetings and meet on a one to one with the senior researcher responsible for the qualitative elements of the study. They will also assist the study PI with project management of the P Risk study and collect and perform descriptive analysis of quantitative data on the operationalisation of the P Risk algorithm.

The successful applicant will be experienced in qualitative data collection, analysis and writing up.  In particular, they will need experience and expertise in qualitative interviewing. They will also have basic project management and quantitative data collection skills.  They will be able to demonstrate a commitment to working independently and as part of a team, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ideally, they will also be experienced in working on primary care mental health studies.

Contract type: Open-ended with funding until 28/02/2025

Work pattern: Part-time/0.6 FTE

Grade: Grade J/ Pathway 2

Salary: £41,732- £46,974 per annum pro rata  

School/Unit: Bristol Medical School

Shift pattern: 21 hours per week
