The Social Research Centre is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Research Consultant to work in our Evaluation and Qualitative Research team. Our Senior Research Consultants have proven experience in leading and delivering large-scale and / or complex qualitative research and evaluation programs to a high standard.

You’ll have a client service focused mindset and an ability to actively nurture and manage these relationships as part of a client facing team.

Your role and responsibilities

Reporting to a Research Director in the Evaluation and Qualitative Research team, your projects will be supported by a diverse team of researchers, operational staff, programmers, statisticians, methodologists, data scientists and communication specialists. You will be responsible for:

  • End-to-end management, execution, and delivery of research projects
  • Communicating with and managing internal and external stakeholders
  • Leading fieldwork, analysis, reports, and proposals
  • Effectively problem-solving issues and adapting on the fly
  • Contributing to continuous improvement
  • Upholding our professional standards and corporate values.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 6 years of relevant professional experience
  • Mission aligned with an interest in developing a career in social or public policy research.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Research cycle. Experience in project leadership, research and evaluation design, literature and documentary reviews (including analysis of secondary data), qualitative fieldwork (including interviews, focus groups, consultation, online communities), analysis, reporting and proposals
  • Detail and organisation. Detail orientated with strong organisational skills to efficiently manage multiple projects, people and deadlines
  • Adaptability. Ability to respond to changing situations, pick up concepts quickly and apply them to new scenarios
  • Communication. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to proactively communicate and work collaboratively
  • Software. Experience in using Microsoft Office products and other packages relevant to research projects, including NVIVO and referencing software. Additionally experience with Qualtrics of R would be an advantage

This position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work arrangement (working from home some days with remaining days in the office). We are willing to accept applications from interstate or regional Victoria, as long as travel to Melbourne were possible.
