- Remuneration: Level C or D dependent on experience. $145,071 – $190,640 + 17% Super and leave loading

About The Centre:
The National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health (the Centre) is a new major initiative supported by the Australian Government, Department of Health and Aged Care, commencing in 2023. The Centre is led by UNSW Sydney (Medicine and Health) together with a consortium comprising The New South Wales Council for Intellectual Disability, Down Syndrome Australia, Queenslanders with Disability Network, First Peoples Disability Network (Australia), Centre for Disability Studies, Mater Intellectual Disability and Autism Service and Mater Misericordiae, University of Melbourne, and Telethon Kids Institute. A further 20 health and disability sector partners and 36 collaborating organisations are also involved. The Centre’s purpose is to improve the health of people with intellectual disability. The National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health will be based at UNSW Medicine and Health, UNSW Sydney.
Establishing the National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health is a vital step in improving the health of people with intellectual disability. The Centre will bring together experts, resources, and research on intellectual disability healthcare.
Why Your Role Matters:
As a Senior Research Fellow/Associate Professor, you will provide strong academic leadership to ensure the high-level achievement of milestones set out in the Centre’s Activity Work Plan as agreed with the Commonwealth. You will provide high level advice to stakeholders, including on issues that impact policy and practice in intellectual disability health care.
There are three positions available leading the following project teams:
- Research and Data
- Resource and Innovation
- Health Service Development
The role of Senior Research Fellow/Associate Professor report to the Centre Director.
The role will have project team staff and PhD candidates as direct reports.
Who You Are:
To be considered at Level C:
- A PhD in a related discipline, and/ or relevant work experience.
- Extensive experience in intellectual and/or developmental disability health research and capacity building.
- Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline-specific knowledge and clinical practice.
- Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact research with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
- Experience in successfully recruiting and supervising high calibre students.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to attract research and other funding.
To be considered at Level D (in addition to the above):
- Significant track record in research leadership with outcomes of high quality and high international impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence and deliver research leadership.
- Demonstrated academic excellence and outstanding contribution to research and scholarship.
- Demonstrated leadership in building engagement and partnerships with the profession and industry.
