About Research Development and Support:

Research Development and Support (RDS) works with Flinders researchers, Colleges, Centres and Institutes, other portfolios, and external stakeholders to proactively support our research. Our teams underpin Flinders’ research evolving from ideas through to impact. RDS is part of the Portfolio of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and provides excellence in all facets of research management and promoting Flinders’ research. 

 
About the Role 

 As the Senior Research Support Officer, you will provide key research development services to support the research capacity and success of the Social Work Innovation Research Living Space (SWIRLS) in the College of Education, Psychology and Social Work.   You will be responsible for providing administrative support through planning, developing, and coordinating project management of the College’s research activities to enhance capabilities and reputation in research. You will provide research support by identifying research opportunities and facilitating involvement of college staff in grants, proposals, and new opportunities. You will harness your expertise to monitor quality assurance for research data, provide advice regarding policies and procedures, aid academic staff with the preparation of research publications, and review and update relevant publications.  

 

Other responsibilities include:

·         Investigating funding opportunities and providing representation in meetings to develop and advocate for beneficial partnerships.

·         Contributing to and coordinating the production of project reports and annual reports to meet University and contractual obligations.

·         Providing executive support to research related committees including the preparation of agenda, minutes, correspondence reports and taking follow-up action.

·         Providing high-level administration support and advice to ensure the College meets the requirements of the Federal Government’s research excellence and impact assessments.

About You 

With your exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, you will maintain strong and collegial relationships with staff. You will demonstrate a high level of written communication skills, including the ability to write high-quality grant proposals, project documentation, and navigate complex concepts in the health and medical research landscapes. Your demonstrated experience in supervising your staff to meet team objectives is complimented by your natural ability to foster an open and positive research team environment. Your keen attention to detail will allow you to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines, while always demonstrating a commitment to high quality service delivery. With your advanced research knowledge and experience, you will be able to apply critical thinking skills and strategic thinking to provide well-informed advice and contribute high quality solutions to complex problems.

To be successful in this position, you would have completed a degree with at least 4 years subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education and/or training.
