tendersglobal.net

At St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, we know what can be achieved when the brightest scientific minds face the fewest barriers. That’s why we provide world-class facilities, state-of-the-art technologies, and extraordinary support for your research to ensure scientific progress is never halted from a lack of resources. At St. Jude, you will be part of a collaborative, bench-to-bedside environment where you can see, firsthand, how your science translates into survival for the children we serve.

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated researcher to join the Immunology Department at SJCRH in the laboratory of Dr. Thirumala Devi-Kanneganti. Our laboratory offers a strong team-based environment where you will conduct clinically-relevant research using a variety of molecular, biochemical, and cell-based technologies to understand how the innate immune system recognizes and responds to pathogens and how genetic mutations in innate immunity affect the development of infectious, inflammatory, and autoimmune diseases in humans.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a detail-oriented team member to act as a Senior Researcher in a central support role in the lab. In this role, you will have the opportunity to perform various laboratory techniques, including primary and immortalized cell culture, molecular cloning, western blotting, CRISPR screens, and assisting with the management of our model organism systems. You will also process primary model organism sample derivatives (DNA, RNA, protein, sections) for analysis. Other duties involve efficiently maintaining laboratory operations, including assistance with ordering, lab organization, and maintenance of equipment.

Candidates should be responsible, reliable, self-motivated problem-solvers with a high level of efficiency, especially while multitasking. Exceptional candidates should have a demonstrated proficiency in several aspects of molecular, cell, biochemical, and/or organismal biology along with an understanding of in vivo models and genetics. All candidates are expected to have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work constructively as a member of a diverse team.

In addition to performing experiments and assisting with laboratory maintenance, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with and train other lab members and work with the outstanding St. Jude core facilities.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant scientific area is required.

Minimum Experience:

  • Two (2) years of relevant, post-degree work experience is required.

  • No experience is required with a Master’s degree.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $60,320 – $105,040 per year for the role of Senior Researcher-Immunology (Kanneganti Lab).
