The Histology and Tissue Processing Core located in the Center for Pediatric Neurological Disease Research (CPNDR) has an open position available at the Researcher/Senior Researcher level. This position is aligned with the St. Jude Pediatric Translational Neuroscience Initiative (PTNI) and will also be involved in supporting the institution-wide Center Without Walls (CWW), a component which fosters collaborative neuroscience research across St Jude.

The successful applicant will have a BS/MS degree in biology. Experience with tissue processing and histology and general knowledge regarding animal physiology/neuroscience is an advantage. They will assist the day-to-day operations of the core by managing a mouse colony, collecting and processing murine tissue samples, tissue sectioning (paraffin or frozen), immunohistochemistry, and basic imaging for a wide variety of neuroscience applications. The individual will help support various PTNI and CWW Investigator-driven tissue analysis projects. Other duties include maintaining the efficient operation of histology and tissue processing equipment. Oversight and specialized training of this individual will be done by the Director of the CPNDR Histology and Tissue processing core. Candidates with a high degree of organization, attention to detail and an interest in neuroscience with good communication skills are encouraged to apply.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $49,920 – $87,360 per year for the role of Researcher.

 

Senior Researcher:

  • Two (2) years of relevant, post-degree work experience is required
  • No experience is required with a Master’s degree

 

 

 

Compensation

This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $60,320 – $105,040 per year for the role of Senior Researcher OR Researcher.
