Senior Researcher OR Researcher- Flow Cytometry

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to become a member of the Institutional Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting Shared Resource at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This facility is extraordinarily supported by Institutional funding rather than grant-based funding to enable a wide range of services provided to all of St Jude investigators and is equipped with state-of-the-art conventional and spectral Flow Cytometry equipment including 8 cell sorters and 12 cell analyzers. We focus on moving science forward instead of cost recovery. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with investigators across all departments to move the mission forward and will be responsible for performing the routine daily services independently and will also have the potential to train individuals institution-wide.

 

Responsibilities:

• Perform daily assisted service for cell sorting, analysis, and sample preparation.
• Assist team or users in designing and optimizing panels for various research projects.
• Conduct quality controls, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the Flow Cytometry equipment.
• Provide quality data and interpretation to support the user’s needs.
• Follow the existing protocols and SOPs.
• Performs other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.

 

Senior Researcher

Minimum Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant scientific area is required.

 

Minimum Experience:

• Two (2) years of relevant, post-degree work experience is required.
• No experience is required with a Master’s degree.
• At least two (2) years of experience in Flow Cytometry, especially in cell sorting, is highly preferred.

 

Preferred skills:

• Excellent written and communication skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Experience in performing multicolor flow cytometry is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of BD DIVA and/or Flowjo software is highly preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of users.
• Experience in sterile and aseptic laboratory techniques
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel
• Excellent multi-tasking skills
• Eagerness to learn and implement new techniques

 

Researcher

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant scientific area is required

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $60,320 – $105,040 per year for the role of Senior Researcher OR Researcher- Flow Cytometry.
