We are offering a unique opportunity for you to join the P&C Re EMEA Legal Entity (LE) and Market Unit (MU) Risk Management team, reporting to the Chief Risk Officer of Swiss Re Europe (SRE) in Luxembourg, one of Swiss Re’s largest Legal Entities outside Switzerland, covering both P&C and L&H reinsurance. In this role you will be working on a wide range of risk topics and together with the team be the risk partners for the EMEA Market Unit heads.
As Senior Risk Manager you will have an overview of all the operational and emerging risks for EMEA, ensuring that risks arising from changes in the internal and external environment are identified, understood and mitigated. You will also be responsible for supporting effective risk governance and overseeing risks related to SRE’s outsourcing relationships.
Core responsibilities
Improve the effectiveness of producing operational risk matrices for the relevant legal entities, closely connecting to the other ORM practitioners across the firm;
Be part of a virtual team across P&C Re RM, supporting or leading the successful implementation of ORM initiatives and processes to improve our resilience;
Act as the operational risk expert in the team, providing support through training, reviewing and revising Risk Control Self Assessments (RCSAs);
Contribute to LE Management and Board reporting, including oversight of our internal risk control frameworks in adherence with regulatory requirements under Solvency II;
Enable the MU risk partners across the team to be effective operational risk managers and contribute insights to the whole RM team;
Coordinate the team in identifying emerging risks, closely liaising with LE and MU Risk Mgmt. colleagues in other regions as well as the Group emerging risk team;
Own the oversight of the requirements for the regulatory duty to monitor all outsourcing arrangements and the relevant external developments;
Be responsible for reviewing changes to relevant Swiss Re policies and standards and evaluating their materiality and implications for the LEs.
About the Team
The team is based across five locations, Luxembourg, London, Zurich, Munich, and Cape Town, covering also the SRE UK branch as well as Swiss Re Africa Ltd. We are looking for a candidate who has:
Advanced education or equivalent in Risk Management, Finance or Social Sciences (e.g. Economics, Political Science or International Relations);
At least 5 years of professional-level work experience dealing with insurance and reinsurance risk topics, preferably experience in operational risk management;
A successful track record in working in a diverse multinational environment with teams and business partners based in various locations;
Excellent communication skills, orally and in writing in English. Knowledge of the Solvency II regulatory environment across the full insurance value chain a strong plus.
