The Role:
Under the direct supervision of Gambella Refugee Response Program Manager, the Senior Safety and Security officer (SSSO) is responsible for facilitating the safety and security of Oxfam GB personnel and assets and will be responsible for monitoring, planning, assessing, and keeping up to date security situation of the operation areas (Gambella Region). The SSSO is expected/preferable to know local languages, excellent understanding of local context and ability to analyze it.
He/she will directly report to and provide daily situation report (DSR) to the Oxfam’s Gambella Refugee Response Program Manager (RRPM), closely work with Field/Camp Coordinators, program leaders & operational teams and will receive technical guidance from Country Office Safety and Security Focal Person (SSFP).
What we are looking for:
An ideal candidate for the role will also be / have:
- At least five years of practical experience in safety risk management in hostile and/or challenging
- Good influencing, communication, interpersonal, and negotiating skills with internal and external audiences including in complex and stressful environments.
- Established experience of training, including field-based
- Ability to work under pressure and not lose sight of strategic
- Capacity to be on standby 24/7 and ready to travel at a short
- Good knowledge of English and Amharic
Desirable:
- At least two years of practical experience in safety risk management in the context of UN or NGO humanitarian operations.
- Knowledge of other than mentioned above spoken languages and/or dialects in
