Location: Our office is located in Toronto, Ontario; however, flexible / hybrid / and remote work arrangements are available.

About the position:

CFCC is looking for a Senior Specialist-Mind Your Food, who will lead the ongoing development and management of this program. The project is in the second implementation phase, working with seven partner organizations across the country, and is based in supporting the protective factors for mental health that are supported by cooking, culture, nutrition and community.  This role involves overseeing program timelines, partnerships, deliverables while designing curriculum informed by best practices and input from diverse advisors and youth. Through relationships with funders, such as the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), collaboration with partner organizations for knowledge exchange, and support of ongoing program improvements with evaluation and feedback. Additionally they will handle budget management, create communication materials and contribute to funding strategies and work closely with internal teams to align the program with CFCC’s mission and values.

Responsibilities

– Manage timelines, deliverables and partnerships for the Mind Your Food Program to create an innovative, flexible and impactful program
– Lead curriculum design using best practices and research in culturally-relevant and participatory youth programming, and input from advisors and youth
– Recruit and manage advisory committee to help inform program and ensure diverse perspectives and relevant expertise are brought to bear on program
– Recruit and select participating partner organizations
– Convene partners for the purpose of knowledge exchange and to build mutual support
– Create training resources, including online tools, with an eye to ongoing adaptation and improvement and animate  training processes in collaboration with Knowledge Exchange team
– Support project implementation through ongoing coaching and communication with delivery partners
– Liaise with major program funders (PHAC) and work with development and finance to ensure financial and narrative reports are submitted in a timely manner
– Collaborate with Development team on strategy and content for  funding proposals
– Work with internal and external evaluators to create relevant and appropriate evaluation tools to capture impact and to use to inform and adapt the program
– Work with facilitators to capture process related feedback and adapt programmatic approach accordingly
– Work with Knowledge Exchange to profile program and share learning with CFCC network via online knowledge swaps, and Summit
– Develop budgets and work with finance and development teams at CFCC to monitor and report on expenditures
– Collaborate with other community health promotion project managers at CFCC  and Evaluation Manager to share expertise and develop shared approaches to health promotion programs
– Prepare funding and other contractual agreements and administer funds to partners
– Contribute to organizational committees and working groups as requested and time allows

Qualifications 

– 5+ years of project management experience in community-based/non-profit organizations
– University degree in a related area, or equivalent experience
– Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum design and participatory program development
– Familiarity with research/best practices in the area of youth programs serving diverse youth, especially Indigenous and newcomer youth
– Demonstrated experience with developing training and learning resources in a variety of media (print, web resources; virtual and in-person training) using adult education principles
– Sound knowledge of quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods
– Familiarity with community-based food programs and a strong, critical  analysis of what constitutes impactful, efficient programming
– Passion for using good food as a vehicle for individual, community, and broader social change
– Understanding of poverty, health, and Indigenous and Northern issues as they relate to food security
– Excellent writing, communications and facilitation skills
– Experience with budgeting and financial systems/procedures

Compensation

Hiring Range: $72,000 – $85,000 annually
