Our services include, but are not limited to:
- Delivery of city/regional carbon reduction programmes;
- Development of carbon management strategies, including Net Zero strategies;
- Carbon footprint and greenhouse gas reporting, and associated ESG disclosures;
- Identification and assessment of energy saving opportunities and investment case support;
- Green building certification assurance on real estate capital projects;
- Estates decarbonisation plan and heat decarbonisation plans; and
- Net Zero programme management and delivery.
Our specialist sustainable Cities & Workplaces team is growing in response to rising demand from private and public sector organisations. We are seeking individuals with experience and knowledge in building certification, and/or real estate decarbonisation to boost our resources.Job DescriptionWe are seeking experienced and highly motivated professionals in Net Zero and sustainability to fulfil the role of Senior Consultant in our Sustainable Cities & Workplaces team, a friendly, inclusive and fast-growing team of sustainability consultants that supports clients with their transition to low-carbon, sustainable future models.If you have experience in Real Estate Sustainability, are an innovative thinker with a proactive approach and have worked in or around Net Zero / Sustainability projects and programmes then we want to talk to you.This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with high-profile clients from various sectors, while developing and delivering a broad range of sustainability services.You will join a talented team with real breadth to make a positive impact on society. We have a friendly and inclusive team culture and strong support to help shape Turner & Townsend’s wider response to climate and ecological emergencies.This is an opportunity for real impact and career progression, joining a global professional services company and take a leading role in the transition to a Net Zero world.Overview of the roleThe successful candidate will deliver high-quality sustainability, Net Zero, and energy efficiency consultancy advice. For this you will need experience and understanding of some of the following:
- Review, analyse, and benchmark energy performance data;
- Audit existing buildings and identify potential technical solutions;
- Create costed decarbonisation roadmaps for buildings/estates/cities;
- Review plans for new/retrofit projects and guide the team to achieve a more sustainable outcome;
- Support the development of business cases;
- Play a key role in managing projects, including client liaison, team resource coordination, and budget oversight;
- Develop corporate Net Zero programmes and strategy;
QualificationsPerson Profile / ExperienceWe are looking to add a range of skills and experience to the team, not necessarily all in the same individual, including:Essential
- Suitably qualified in a related subject or appropriate industry experience;
- Experience in conducting non-domestic building energy audits to an approved standard;
- Ability to scope retrofit projects and identify potential technical solutions;
- Experience in creating decarbonisation plans for buildings, estates, or cities;
- Good understanding of low and zero carbon technologies and strategies to reduce emissions in buildings (e.g. Renewable energy, heat pumps and fabric measures);
- Ability to review, analyse and benchmark energy performance in the built environment;
- Competent user of data management software (for example Excel) and systems for data cleansing, management, analytics, and quality assurance;
- Attention to detail in service delivery, communications, and working with others;
- Effective client and stakeholder relationship management experience;
- Excellent analytical and communication skills – we believe in the use of quality data to drive objective decision making;
- Experience in carbon emission calculations; and
- Understanding on how to collate an organisational carbon footprint of scope 1, 2 & 3 emissions;
- Ability to take a key role to improve service delivery on commissions, supporting clients and colleagues to understand and maximise sustainability in projects and programmes;
- Enthusiasm for growing a team and business in a fast-moving environment;
- Good commercial awareness including the ability to articulate business decisions within the wider context and market trends;
Desirable
- Experience of line management;
- Experience of business development including preparing proposals and inputting into competitive tenders;
- Experience in a consulting or advisory role;
- Knowledge of embodied or whole life carbon calculation or strategy on refurbishment and new build projects
- Climate risk assessment and / or climate resilience strategy
- Reporting and disclosure in relation to corporate climate reporting, ESG and TCFD’s
- Strategy/project delivery experience in the built environment
- Relevant chartership or professional membership (e.g. CIBSE, IEMA, IEE) EPC, ESOS and DEC certified;
- Experience of working with corporate clients, FTSE companies or global businesses.
- Experience with the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme, and working with public sector clients
