UK Hydrographic Office

tendersglobal.net

Do you have experience in assessing and compiling geospatial products?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small team, specialising in providing marine
environment information that is vital to supporting the safety and security of our waters.

About the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO)

We are a world-leading centre for hydrography, specialising in marine geospatial data to
support safe, secure and thriving oceans. We fulfil the UK government’s Safety of Life at Sea
obligations and are relied upon by defence users, government and global shipping.

The role

Senior Tactical Product Specialists are responsible for planning, producing, and improving
UKHO’s world-renowned products, which allow our defence customers such as the Royal Navy to
exploit the maritime environment during live operations and exercises.

This particular role will work with Littoral and Riverine products, which enable customers to
operate close to the shore to deploy/recover amphibious forces or operate in confined, high
risk areas.

You will be liaising with other UKHO teams to combine a wide range of data, imagery and textual
information into Littoral and Riverine products and services. You will also work closely with
Defence Product Managers to understand the customers’ needs and will be required to source and
assess data so that our products can meet the needs of the customer.

As a subject matter expert for our products, you will routinely offer technical insight into
products at national, and occasionally international, events, as well take part in the wider
development of personnel and processes within the Tactical Products team.

About you

To be successful in the role, you will need to have the technical capability and knowledge to
undertake the more complex activity within the team and effectively verify decisions made by
more junior staff.

Experience in the examination and assessment of incoming geospatial/hydrographic data; and
compilation, maintenance and verification of data and information using ESRI GIS and production
tools is essential.

The ability to build and maintain relationships with end users of UKHO products and present
technical information to a wide range of audiences is equally important.

In return

UKHO is a great place in which to explore your career potential. While our projects are
career-defining, the work/life balance that we can offer you is equally exceptional. From
flexitime, flexible working, an award-winning office environment and a generous annual leave
allowance of 34.5 days including public holidays, the opportunities open to you here are hard
to beat.
