Overview: DT Global is seeking a Senior Technical Advisor, Energy and Climate to join the Environment and Infrastructure (E&I) Practice. The Senior Technical Advisor will provide strategic advice and thought leadership to current and future energy and climate change programs and proposals managed by the E&I Practice. This position will also be responsible for establishing best practices and standards for energy and climate change programming and implementation across E&I sub-practice areas. The Senior Technical Advisor will provide strategic technical advice to business development initiatives involving energy and climate and will support strategic planning and project execution within the E&I Practice, contributing to strengthening client relations, capture processes, technical solutions designs and public and private sector partnerships. This position will report to the Vice President of the E&I Practice.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Business Development
- In coordination with the E&I Vice President and the Senior Management Team, manage the long-term positioning of DT Global with key clients, including the development and maintenance of strong relationships with current and potential clients.
- Enhance relations with key clients, particularly USAID, and represent DT Global at conferences, forums, and public engagements.
- Manage the USAID Energy IDIQ, including leading new business efforts and interacting with USAID and IDIQ partners, as applicable.
- Participate in business development pipeline discussions to determine bids to pursue.
- Contribute to capture efforts for bids including contacting potential partners, developing the project team, identifying key personnel, and other associated tasks.
- Serve as technical writer for bids including developing and composing the technical approach for proposals, as well as write or review technical reports and materials for current projects.
- Establish and regularly expand a roster of technical specialists and subject-matter experts in the areas of energy, climate change, environment, and infrastructure to support existing projects and business development.
Technical Excellence
- Support technical project implementation, traveling to the field as required from time to time to provide technical guidance and support and client engagement.
- Contribute to overall strategic vision and direction for overseeing implementation and expansion of the energy sector portfolio and strengthening DT Global’s reputation as a thought leader in energy services.
- Elevate DT Global as a thought leader in energy and climate change programming by collaborating with the Communications team to produce articles, blog posts, and success stories highlight DT Global’s technical expertise.
- Coordinate and/or lead technical trainings for staff to build skills and attain higher levels of competency and understanding of current trends and best practices in energy and climate change, applying lessons learned and experienced gained through field assignments.

Education & Minimum Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in international development, environmental science, economics, energy, climate science, sustainability, or a related field
- Minimum 15 years of related professional experience in the energy, climate change, or environment sectors with demonstrated success in business development and implementation for those sectors
- Experience contributing technical guidance to business development proposals, including assisting with strategic positioning, leading technical solution design, serving as a technical writer, leading strategic partner identification, and reviewing technical and overall quality of bids
- Demonstrated experience writing successful technical proposals for USAID and other donors, particularly in the energy and climate sectors
- Practical experience working with a range of development program partners, including government agencies, regulatory bodies, utilities, the private sector, NGOs, civil society, consumers, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems individually and as part of a team, while respecting individual team members’ roles, strengths, and communication styles
- Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and on a team.
- Ability to travel and work overseas on short term technical assignments up to 25%, at times with short notice.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fluency in Spanish, French or Arabic preferred.
- Experience working with multiple donors (USAID, MCC, etc.)
