Senior Urban Designer (England South) 

  • £36,629 per annum (pro rata for part time hours)

  • Maternity Contract for 1 year
  • Part Time 26.25 hours per week – happy to talk flexible working
  • Base: Sustrans offices in Bristol, with the flexibility to work from home.

About the role 

This is an exciting opportunity to join Sustrans as part of the Design and Engineering team
focusing on the work in the England South Region. 

As the Senior Urban Designer, you will join the team of Urban Designer and Engineers to help
deliver Sustrans vision for Liveable Cities and Towns, transforming streets, public spaces and
Sustrans National Cycle Network creating routes and spaces that encourage people to travel more
actively in their day to day lives 

As a senior member of the team, you will work with the Urban Designers and Engineers to deliver
high quality designs that support that effective delivery of Sustrans programmes and projects.
You will be responsible for quality assurance, project management, and external relationships
and help build a pipeline of future funding. You will also represent Sustrans at meetings with
local authority officers, external clients and finders, as well as liaising with members of the
public and consultations. 

This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on
behalf of Sustrans.

About you 

You should have experience of working on a range of design projects, which will include a high
level of stakeholder and community engagement and involvement You will also have a proven track
record in project management and programme plan management, including risk, and budgetary
management. 

You will be skilled in the production of technical drawing and specifications for street and
public spaces using design software. You will also have proven stakeholder engagement skills,
and the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of people. 

We ask you demonstrate your knowledge of health and safety legislation and practice including
application of CDM regulations.
