We’re seeking a Senior UX (User Experience) Designer to empower teams by conceptualizing
and prototyping what is possible before it is built. They lead the gathering of strategic insights,
guiding user-centered design methods, and crafting industry-leading experiences from concept
to execution. They utilize their extensive experience to ensure quality, usability, and simplicity,
with a commitment to honoring the ASU brand. Primary functions are creating user flows,
wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes to transform complex tasks into intuitive, accessible
digital experiences.
This Senior UX Designer will be responsible for a portfolio of digital learning products and the
integration of those products. Digit is a course deployment tool with object management (users
and courses), data visualization, and content facilitation. Orchard is a course builder platform
where content can be stored and adaptive learning maps are easily assembled by instructional
designers.
This position is a hybrid role, and you will be required to be in the office a minimum of 3
days a week.
Essential Duties:
- Be a voice for the user and continuously advocate for improved experiences.
- Identify and troubleshoot UX design issues (e.g. responsiveness, usability, accessibility, etc…).
- Work from high-level requirements and ask the right questions to gather all relevant information to guide design direction.
- Rapidly produce multiple concepts and prototypes; knowing when to apply pixel-perfect attention to detail, and when to make low-fi sketches and prototypes.
- Practice strong communication, presentation, and analytical skills, including communicating complex, interactive design concepts clearly and persuasively.
- Collaborate and work cross-functionally to ensure that we are using cohesive solutions and ensuring successful implementation.
- Help plan and work from design strategies like personas, journey maps, user scenarios, task analysis, contextual observation, user interviews, surveys, and web analytics.
- Transform ideas into creative, compelling experiences that span personas, contexts, and devices across the ecosystem.
- Design solutions for the full extent of a product which might include marketing efforts, print collateral, business processes, and operations.
- Work in an agile environment using Jira to help prioritize and organize projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product,
industrial), HCI, CS-related field AND five (5) years of industry experience OR, Any equivalent
combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and
abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in digital portfolio demonstrating responsive and scalable user-centered design solutions, industry experience in UI and UX design, and experience in using data, and current trends, and finding ways to elevate design through research, testing, and continuous learning.
- Has a sharp eye, with a strong skill set for creating designs that drive user engagement and improve the learner experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge about design systems or any experience in building brands, style guides, and managing library assets.
- Experience with industry-standard design and research tools (Adobe CC, Sketch, Figma, InVision, User testing, etc…)
- Experience in other mediums of design such as print, merchandise, graphic design, presentations, infographics, and email marketing.
- A compelling communicator who can build common understanding set up frameworks, and speak confidently about a product or initiative at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to model empathy, compassion, and emotional intelligence while also building
positive working relationships across other teams within the organization.
● Ability to understand users’ needs, motivations, and behaviors and translate them into
actionable deliverables and usable solutions.
● Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with engineers to ensure
the successful implementation of a design.
● Must include or be able to show recent web design-related project work in this area to be
considered.
● Experience in leading design activities such as mind mapping, customer journey
mapping, and discovery.
● Demonstrates a willingness to take creative risks and justify decisions to stakeholders.
● The ability to mentor others to deliver work and bring overarching strategy to life.

Working Environment
EdPlus at ASU is located at SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center. The center houses a diverse business community that links technology, research, education, and entrepreneurship to position ASU and Greater Phoenix as global leaders in the knowledge economy.
Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting or standing. Daily use of desktop or laptop computer is required. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties. Regular review of completed tasks.
EdPlus at ASU supports flexible work options, ranging from alternate work schedules to hybrid remote work schedules, subject to approvals per ASU policy.
