About the role:
The RSPB’s digital estate is vital to our mission to give nature a home – from rallying people
together to speak up for nature, to inspiring a love of wildlife, to raising the income that
pays for our conservation work in the UK and around the world.
Working together with our team of Service Designers, User Researcher and UX / UI Designers (as
part of probably the biggest tech team in conservation) you’ll play a key role in shaping our
digital experiences and evangelising a user-centred approach throughout the organisation.
Together we’ll develop a deeper understanding of our users’ needs, motivations, and pains,
explore a range of creative solutions and deliver desirable, engaging experiences.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
- You’ll be collaborative, fun and friendly, adept at engaging stakeholders and users in
testing and general chat. - You’ll be a passionate advocate for design thinking, have excellent soft skills and be
experienced at planning, facilitating and driving stakeholders through a design thinking
processes. - You’ll have experience of managing stakeholder relationships and balancing the demands of
multiple projects running simultaneously. - You’ll have a passion for engaging with users, identifying, and challenging assumptions,
validating hypotheses, and testing concepts and solutions with a mix of qualitative and
quantitative data. - You’ll bring a sound knowledge of design principles and practices that underpin your
excellent visual design skills and ability to create seamless interactions, helping us deliver
experiences that delight our users and guide them effortlessly to their goals. - You’re comfortable leading discovery and ideation with a range of team members, guiding
projects through the design thinking process, sharing your work and evangelising user-centred
design with the wider organisation. - You’ve got excellent people skills, recognise the importance of getting feedback early and
often from peers and users, and always look for opportunities to collaborate and share. - You’re confident owning the delivery of designs and experiences, and you’ll instil
confidence in our work by pragmatically balancing the needs of users with the goals of the
organisation. - Ultimately, you’ll be an excellent UX and UI Designer with experience working on a variety
of different projects, you’ll have your own ideas about what great UX looks like and how
excellent UI design come together to deliver a delightful user experience.
Where you’ll be working:
Good news! You can work from anywhere in the UK. We’ll provide you with all the tech and
software to help you do your job from home and, with our wide network of reserves and
offices, you’ll never be far from an opportunity for hot desking. You’ll also need to be
prepared to travel occasionally for meet ups with the rest of our awesome team, to get involved
in workshops and so you can get a better understanding of our vast and diverse organisation.
