Together, Launch Housing, The Royal Women’s Hospital and Housing First have collaborated to develop a housing and support program known as The Cornelia Program. The program offers a pathway out of homelessness for pregnant women and new mothers. The program assists mothers to enhance health and wellbeing outcomes for themselves and their babies, access support services, gain independence and break the cycle of homelessness.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Together, alongside the partners, this position is responsible for bridging the divide between homelessness and health services by providing women with enhanced case management support, advocacy, opportunities, information and referral pathways for a period of 12 months.

The Senior Worker assists with the immediate and ongoing support needs of clients engaging in the Cornelia Program through the provision of a range of intervention options ensuring that the client’s needs are translated into an individual case plan with a focus on long-term housing outcomes, that encourages the client’s independence, empowerment, autonomy, and dignity through a trauma informed, recovery oriented, feminist approach. This support is mainly provided at the Cornelia Program in St. Kilda, however, involves a level of outreach support and at least one administrative day per week working from the offices located at East St. Kilda. The Senior worker ensures effective service delivery is provided to all clients accessing the service in accordance with the housing first and trauma informed approaches reflected within the Launch Housing Practice Framework standards.

What we’re looking for (key selection criteria):

  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery of services to clients with complex needs relating to homelessness.
  • Demonstrated understanding of trauma informed approach, and knowledge of harm reduction and recovery-oriented practices.
  • Demonstrated understanding of housing and homelessness policy, context and systems.
  • Ability to work effectively with people experiencing complex life stress with past / present trauma experiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others towards effective client solutions.
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills and good interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Have a relevant tertiary qualification (desirable).
  • Demonstrated commitment to the values of Launch Housing and our mission to end homelessness.
