Job Description

Purpose of this role:

In this position, the main responsibilities include enhancing capacity-building efforts with IRC’s implementing partner and strengthening the monitoring and learning in IRC-tested GBV prevention approaches. The role plays a crucial part in monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on all aspects of our prevention activities with the goal of improving the overall quality of our programs. It involves providing guidance, coaching, and technical support for the SASA! Together Learning and Assessment system in areas where it has been introduced or recently implemented. Additionally, the role collaborates closely with the WPE coordinator, actively represents the program at various relevant coordination fora, and facilitates communication both internally with IRC WPE technical unit and MEAL department, and externally with the government, SASA! Together cohort, GBV prevention working group and partner NGOs.

Major Responsibilities:

Designing, Planning & Implementation of Strategies for Data Collection & Storage, Analysis & Sharing

  • Adhere to and dedicatedly promote the women, girl, and survivor-centered support approach, and the GBV guiding principles.
  • Provide SASA! Together learning and assessment training to IRC and Partner staff.
  • Lead the M&E database of GBV Prevention approaches (such as the Girl Shine early marriage program, EMAP plus, SASA! Together, Safe at Home) and Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS) by ensuring accurate data entry into the database, cleanup, storage, and system maintenance, including troubleshooting.
  • Train and provide vital support to IRC and partners staff for the effective utilization of GBV prevention monitoring tools.
  • Ensure that all GBV data is disaggregated and safely stored.
  • Lead the periodic community assessment survey and institutional assessment survey to measure SASA! Together expected outcomes.
  • Together with prevention team, conduct community focus group discussions to capture insights, experiences, and perspectives from people in the community, including positive shifts and any signs of backlash or risk to women.
  • Conduct periodic performance assessment on usage of the SASA! Together L&A tools during the awareness and support phase and provide guidance for improve utilization of the tools.
  • Together with prevention team, ensure quarterly data analysis and feedback sessions from the activity plan and report, the activity observation form, and the community change tracker.
  • Hold regular field supervision visits, offer mentorship sessions and supervise project progress.
  • Collaborate with the Senior MEAL Manager to continue to identify areas for improvement and make improvements to data management tools across the WPE portfolio.
  • Assist WPE and partners staff to understand the databases/ tools developed and make corrections or improvements to them as needed.
  • Conduct exit interviews, FGDs, open discussions, and surveys for prevention interventions to receive feedback from the clients for improving services and support of IRC or partners to strengthen accountability to the clients.
  • Lead the prevention team on regular data collection and develop impact stories or success stories with the collaboration of the Sr. WPE Manager and share with Accountability and Knowledge Management specialist for the refinement of the best programmatic practice.
  • Take lead in translation of tools task -English to Bangla.

Report Writing & Documentation

  • Conduct data analysis and supply inputs, information, and statistics for monthly, quarterly, annual, and other reports to WPE coordinator.
  • Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Deliverables/KPI:

  • MEAL tools and database in GBV prevention approaches in use for every project
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of training activities for GBV Prevention M&E System.
  • Data collection tools developed and used properly.
  • Activity Monitoring status reporting for each project
  • Field visit reports
  • Assessments, surveys and other measurements are conducted on a timely basis and reports shared.
  • Collaboration and capacity building with partners
  • Conduct SASA! Together community assessment survey and institutional assessment survey.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience in implementing a GBV program especially in a humanitarian context.
  • Deep understanding of the Gender Based Violence guiding principles and what it means to provide a survivor-centered response.
  • Experience in developing and facilitating workshops and training.
  • Experience in database development, usage, and management.
  • Demonstrated capacity to analyze data/statistics for humanitarian operations.
  • Deep understanding of browser-based applications, interfaces, workflows, role-based access.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills: the ability to work independently and productively, with multiple collaborators in a dynamic environment.
  • Flexible work demeanor: the ability to work productively in a team environment and independently, and to handle requests or issues as they arise.
  • Demonstrated understanding of issues related to confidentiality, data safety/security and other ethical concerns related to the sharing on critical data between humanitarian agencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: the ability to liaise with people successfully and effectively in a wide range of functions in a multi-cultural environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Competences (Minimum of 5)

  • Candidate is required to be able to demonstrate a clear and genuine willingness to work and learn quickly and be committed to developing professionally in the field of GBV supporting adolescent girls’ protection and empowerment is essential.
  • Clear understanding of and interest in the well-being of adolescent girls.
  • Understanding of the impact and dynamics of men’s violence against women and girls, and a strong interest in working on adolescent girls’ protection and empowerment.
  • Personal qualities: Works well in and promotes collaboration, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well.
  • Strong communication, report writing, observation skills and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent listening and observation skills, including ability to build trust, support, respect and interact with clients in their diversity.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and respect in Centers always is essential.

Essential capacities

  • Exceptional analytical skills and validated skills in data management; and statistical analysis using SPSS/ STATA/ CSPro, or any other statistical application.
  • Prior training on SASA or SASA Together is essential.
  • A minimum of 1 year of professional work experience in implementing GBV prevention approaches, such as SASA! Together, EMAP, WGSS, and Girl shine.
  • Excellent Digital literacy: MS Word, Excel, Access and database software, including in-depth knowledge of pivot table/chart and data analysis.

Language Preference:

  • Spoken and writing in Bangali and English is important.

Specific Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Gender or women’s studies, social work, or other relevant/related studies, and /or professional experience in counselling and implementing activities for women and girls or validated engagement in women’s rights/groups is desirable.
