The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana is looking to fill four positions for the upcoming Serve Louisiana Amerciorps cohort.
Below is a brief outline of each position, full position descriptions are available on our website (https://www.crcl.org/employment-opportunities/) and on ServeLA’s website (https://www.servelouisiana.org/commit-to-serve/available-opportunities/2024-2025-new-orleans-positions)
Native Plants Program Coordinator
The Native Plants Program (NPP) Coordinator will work closely with the Native Plants Program Manager to support ongoing ecological restoration work in the field and at CRCL’s Restoration Headquarters in Violet, Louisiana (St. Bernard Parish). This work includes essential preparations for upcoming planting events, as well as supporting the oyster shell recycling and reef build events, educational tours and field trips, tabling opportunities and monitoring and maintenance activities at restoration project sites. The NPP Coordinator will also be essential in refining nursery operations with regards to growing wetland trees from seed, and marsh grasses for future restoration projects. This will require creative problem solving, time management, a high level of organization and project planning. The Native Plants Program Coordinator will be a functional member of CRCL’s Restoration Krewe, a team of engaged members working together to execute 30 to 50 volunteer events per year. Workdays will involve an array of office and field responsibilities, including frequent field days directing and supervising volunteers of varying experience levels in remote locations across coastal Louisiana. This position will require a flexible schedule and some work on weekends.
Essential Functions of Position:
Communications Coordinator
The Communications Coordinator will help CRCL host a relevant and timely conference, maximizing the event for speakers, presenters, exhibitors and attendees. As such, it will help more people understand Louisiana’s coastal challenges and solutions. The member will help improve our internal information management systems and utilize digital conference management tools to streamline the conference experience for users. The member will also help shape the conference in a way that maximizes the networking opportunities for attendees. We anticipate the 2025 to have the most attendees of any conference to date with the goal of 1,200 attendees, so helping to shape an effective experience will have an outsized impact on the coastal sector. Anticipating a larger audience than ever before, the member impact will be helping to maintain and improve overall event quality as it expands. The success of the term can be evaluated on metrics such as that, and also through post-conference surveys and media coverage.
Essential Functions of Position:
Socail Media Coordinator
The Social Media Coordinator will help CRCL connect with new audiences in south Louisiana and elsewhere. The coordinator will expand our audience on existing platforms and may move us into new platforms, ensuring that we have more people aware of our issues and our work. The coordinator will post frequently on social media and engage directly with users. The coordinator will create and share content about coastal land loss; about different elements of the organization’s work; about the team at CRCL and about our partners; about coastal restoration projects and proposals; about organizational events and partnerships. Simply put, more people will be involved in coastal restoration, and all supporters of the work will become more engaged and educated. The coordinator will be evaluated in various engagement metrics: new followers, views, shares, for instance. The coordinator’s success will also be measured through volunteer numbers and event attendance.
Essential Functions of Position:
Oyster Shell Recycling Coordinator
Louisiana’s once-bountiful oyster reefs, upon which coastal communities rely for their livelihood, are in peril. The OSRP Coordinator will address these issues by expanding the program’s geographic reach and strengthening operations, activities which broaden the community impact of the program. As we broaden the audience of our restoration programs, this team will educate and empower a growing legion of coastal advocates working collectively towards a thriving, sustainable Louisiana coast. The Coordinator’s work with partner restaurants will raise the profile of the OSRP—and hence coastal land loss and restoration solutions. Throughout the service term, the Coordinator will implement multiple restoration projects, onboard restaurants, educate and engage volunteers and make tangible improvements to overall program function.
