Job Title: Service Design and Transition Manager – Technology – Counter Terrorism Policing HQSalary: The starting salary is £45,073, which includes allowances totalling £2,841.The salary is broken down as £42,232 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £50,385. As a Service Design and Transition Manager, you’ll make sure that’s the case, whatever the situation or challenge. Your work isn’t just important, it’s mission critical. In brief, you’ll be making sure CTP staff can operate as effectively as possible by delivering the IT services they need.It means helping project managers to establish service design requirements and modelling for ongoing delivery. You’ll also develop service design across the portfolio and provide an assurance function.In addition, you’ll see that the Service Operation as a whole is set up and in place to ensure easy handover. You’ll tackle everything from event and incident management to request fulfilment, problem management and access management.Where necessary, you’ll also provide cross-supplier Incident Problem and Change process integration. Whatever the task, you’ll manage stakeholders’ expectations and work closely with Process Leads to ensure a smooth handover of service.We operate in a fast-paced environment, so you’ll need to thrive in a busy team. We’re looking for service management experience gained in the public sector, plus a qualification in ITIL Service Transition and Service Design (or equivalent). Whatever your background, you’ll have led the design and transition aspect of large programmes and set up transition governance before. Take on a role as Service Design & Transition Manager, and you will ensure that the ICT services they need can be delivered – wherever they are.You’ll help project managers to establish service design requirements and modelling for ongoing delivery. It will see you develop service design across the portfolio and provide a needed assurance function. In addition, you’ll see that the Service Operation as a whole is set up and in place to ensure easy handover and covers everything from incident management to the review of service desks.You will also own and write the Operational Working Agreement so that everyone who provides CTP services is aware of responsibilities, processes, and communications. All of these responsibilities will be within a fast-paced delivery environment, so your background will be key.It’s essential that you can draw on service management experience in a public sector setting. Qualified in ITIL Service Transition and Service Design or equivalent, you’ll have led the design and transition aspect on large programmes and set up transition governance.Key TasksThe postholder shall:

  • Develop service design across the portfolio, this includes Catalogue management; Availability management; Service Level Management; Capacity Management; IT Service Continuity management; Information Security management; Supplier management.
  • Provide an assurance function, protecting the BAU estate and existing Service Management capability.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the Service Operation is set up and in place. This includes Event Management; Incident Management; Request fulfilment; Problem Management; Access Management. This also includes the review and setup of Service Desks, etc.
  • Own and write the Operational Working Agreement(s). The purpose of this Operational Working Agreement (OWA) is to define the current responsibilities, service support processes and communications of all parties involved in the provision of the CTP services.
  • Provide cross supplier Incident, Problem and Change process integration.
  • Working closely with the process leads ensure requirements are met for handover of service.
  • Assist in reviewing and approving the Migration Strategy.
  • Manage internal and external stakeholder expectations.
  • Understand, document, and actively manage risks into service.
  • Provide support to the Business Change functions, providing advice and guidance on implementation and deployment.
  • Review project deliverables for quality and accuracy and enforcing standards.
  • Capture and transfer lessons learned for ongoing Programme & Transition planning.
  • Reporting progress to CTPHQ Transition Lead, Delivery Programmes and Programme Office
