Context/Reporting line:

 

Under the general guidance of the Program Coordinator, the overall supervision of the National MHPSS Officer, the administrative supervision of the Head of Sub Office (HoSO), and the direct supervision of the Senior Project Assistant- MHPSS, the successful candidates will be responsible for the following duties:

Core Functions / Responsibilities

 

This position will contribute to the project’s objective to improve MHPSS support for IDPs, returnees and host communities in Iraq and to improve their overall resilience and well-being through a training for women and girls on sewing. Through this course, participants from Sinuni community in West Ninawa will gain skills and understanding of using sewing and handmade to express their artistic talents. To achieve the position’s objectives, the trainer will be required to:

 

  1. Assist participants in learning new skills and steps to develop them.
  2. Assist in creating simple schedules for activities, showing the order of learning steps.
  3. Assist during activities to ensure everyone is comfortable and engaged.
  4. Assist in making basic weekly plans for activities.
  5. Provide feedback and suggestions to the Senior Project Assistant- MHPSS
  6. Ensure that confidentiality and the right to privacy are maintained about confidential information.

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Education:

  • Highschool completion with two years of relevant experience, or;
  • Primary school completion with 3 years of relevant experience.

Experience and Skills:

  • Experience working in the humanitarian or educational sector as a sewing and handmade trainer, with Minimum of one year of professional experience.
  • Experience in communicating and working with a wide range of people including people of culturally diverse backgrounds, people with disabilities, and, especially, youth.
  • Experience in teaching and the ability to design sewing courses.
  • Good skills in creating the best conditions for learning or teaching new things.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.

 

Languages:

  • Fluency in Kurdish (Kirmanji) and working knowledge of Arabic.
