About us: Wysing Arts Centre cultivates the freewheeling imagination. We believe that everybody has the
right to time and space for creativity, away from the distractions of daily life. The Arts
Centre is based in rural Cambridgeshire, UK, ten miles from the city of Cambridge. It includes
20 studios for artists, a 17th century farmhouse where visiting artists stay, a ceramics
studio, flexible space to experiment, present work and learn; a recording studio, fields,
woodland, and several outdoor artworks. Environmental sustainability plays an increasingly central role in our organisation, and Wysing
is currently engaged in strategic capital fundraising with a focus on green energy, and to
improve biodiversity across our rural site.

The role: Wysing Arts Centre is a small charity looking for a Site and Environmental Futures Manager to be responsible for the effective management and upkeep of Wysing’s buildings and grounds and increasing our sustainability to support an environmentally responsible future for Wysing. Wysing’s site supports a programme of artistic projects including residencies, commissions, events and learning activity.

This is a part time role, 4 days per week including regular Fridays.

We’re looking for someone with the practical skills to manage a rural site that covers 11 acres
and has offices, artist studios, accommodation, ceramics and recording studios, fields and
woodland. You will also have enthusiasm and interest in sustainability and environmentally
responsible ways of working and operating the site. We’re looking for a keenness to learn and to get involved in your
own skills development through sector support and networks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Wysing’s site and buildings day to day so they are safe, well maintained, fit for
purpose and ready for use as required. Includes carrying out or coordinating repairs,
maintenance contracts and schedules, overseeing site security, buildings, offices, artists’
    studios and grounds.
  • Develop and implement site improvements that increase Wysing’s sustainability, reducing
overhead costs and environmental impact, working with the Director, Deputy Director and
consultants, and enhancing artist and visitor experience.
  • Champion environmental responsibility to embed sustainability across Wysing’s work.
