Role Purpose

To support the Skills for Success team in the implementation of of the project in compliance with British Council policies and procedures including financial admin, reporting and data collection, operational project delivery and managing relations with delivery partners.

The project will improve teaching and learning of English and life skills among young Tunisians (starting with Year 7 and Second Chance Centres) which will contribute to keeping them in school, increasing their confidence and skills to pursue worthwhile study and career paths, building their resilience to social threats, and enhancing their country’s economic and social development in the longer term.

Into 2025, the project will include the activity areas of commissioning curriculum and materials, delivering teacher and teacher educator training, commissioning research and planning and delivering strategic engagement events with key partners.

Main Accountabilities:

Managing self and others

  • Holds vendors and suppliers to account for delivering services.
  • Has the ability to work independently and manage work load against project deadlines.

Financial Support

  • Plan and report on project financial plans and budget expenditure and forecasting to Programme Managers and Head of Programme Delivery; manages smaller budgets.
  • Perform all financial processes related to the role accurately and in a timely manner and in line with British Council and client procurement and audit requirements.
  • Support the procurement process by asking for quotations and collecting all relevant documentation for project delivery files.
  • Ensure relationships with vendors are maintained and payments are processed on time and in accordance with FABS on-line system (SAP Finance) guidelines
  • Maintain clear and up-to-date records on all financial transactions as per audit requirements
  • Compliance to BC financial policies and procedures.

Project Management

  • Responsible for data management including timely data entry, quality assurance of data, undertaking basic analysis of monitoring data, and developing progress reports to meet needs of funders.
  • Supports internal compliance such as due diligence, records management, data collection and storage.
  • Support project lead with grants administration, selection & evaluation, and procurement processes.
  • Ensure agreed project management methods, standards and processes are maintained by providing support for event-based components and training activities – including the booking of venues, organising hospitality, transport, accommodation, marketing materials, and management of external requirements that contribute to the successful delivery of project outcomes.
  • Supports the project / programme manager in implementing diversity mainstreaming action plans and contributes to it.

Relationship and Stakeholder Management

  • Support managing relationships with clients/partners/stakeholders at appropriate level.
  • Manages relationship with vendors and suppliers and holds them to account for delivering services.

About You (essential requirements for the role):

  • English B2
  • Knowledge of the Tunisian education sector
  • Experience of working in a supporting role on programmes or projects
  • Administrative and financial administration experience
  • Good understanding of basic concepts of monitoring and evaluation, and how they are central to good project management

  • Working in an educational context
