Your Role

Being a Landscape Social and Human Rights Manager you will be focusing on ensuring the rights and wellbeing of workers and their family in supply chains. Specific focus is placed on ethical recruitment of migrant workers, forced and bonded labour and children in plantations.

  • Oversee the project cycle management with involvement in narrative development, financial reporting, and annual workplan planning.
  • Create proposals and involvement in some aspects of business development.
  • Undertake regular field and desk-based research from a legal and analytical perspective.
  • Plan, coordinate and oversee labour related assessments and interventions in the field. This includes supporting companies in the implantation of solutions, company site visits, worker and employer interviews, and document review.
  • Regular preparation of reports that require supporting publication development. That involves proof reading, editing and working closely with the communications team.
  • Development of resources, tools, solutions and training modules in reference to human rights, labour rights, child rights and related topics to employers
  • Regular communications in reference to external stakeholder engagements and collaborative platforms. This would be achieved by leading meetings, presentation preparations, project updates to stakeholders and representing EF in collaborative discussion.

Your Profile

You’re a passionate individual with knowledge in migration, labour rights issues or child protection who loves working in the business and human rights space to drive transformation across connected supply chains. Someone that is interested in a career with a dynamic non profit that builds relationships with companies, governments and civil society organisations to bring responsible products to the market. An individual who is an excellent team player with good leadership ability.

You enjoy going to the ground i.e into rural areas to implementing practical solutions with companies, conduct labour or social audits and assessments. You connect and work well with your counterparts, have a strong eye for detail in terms of analysing data gathered, developing practical solutions and implementing these recommendations to close gaps.

A natural public speaker who is at ease in conducting trainings, webinars and one who is capable of designing training materials related to human rights, labour rights, child rights and topics related to employers. Experience in leading meetings presentations and facilitating stakeholder discussion are something you would be comfortable undertaking. You come with the willingness to learn from others you enjoy working across teams and functions and take initiative whenever an opportunity arises.

One that can participate in a collaborative and organized manner, and thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments, demonstrating impeccable verbal and written communication skills. To be successful, it would be a strong advantage to have a sound background in RSPO/MSPO requirements with a solid understanding of environmental and social issues in Malaysia regarding the raw commodity industries.

  • Social sciences, human rights, sociology, international development or other related field (preferable)
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
  • Permanent, on a full-time basis
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Based in Pahang and Johor, Malaysia
  • Citizenship or valid work authorization in the country
