Dijla Agricultural Association (DAA) is an independent non-governmental organization based in Mosul, Iraq. Established in 2012, DAA has grown into a multi-sectoral organization that works across agriculture, environment, WASH, business development, and social cohesion. Through this diverse portfolio, DAA aims to enhance community resilience and promote sustainable development across Iraq. DAA now implements programs that address environmental protection, climate resilience, clean water and sanitation, and small business development to strengthen local economies. The organization also leads social cohesion and community engagement initiatives, creating safe spaces for dialogue, supporting vulnerable groups, and fostering peaceful coexistence. DAA operates in several Iraqi governorates, including Nineveh, Dohuk, Kirkuk, Hilla, and Anbar, delivering projects that support internally displaced persons, returnees, and host communities. These interventions aim to reduce unemployment, improve living standards, and contribute to overall socio-economic stability. With strong collaboration with national and international partners, DAA has played a pivotal role in improving livelihoods, supporting community recovery, and promoting sustainable development. Overall, DAA strives to empower communities, promote sustainable and inclusive development, and contribute to Iraq’s long-term stability and growth across multiple sectors.

 

Job Summary

The social worker will be coordinating between the project staff and the local community members, stakeholders, beneficiaries, schools and local leaders. She/he is responsible for the promotion of the project mission and activities among the target group. Including conducting awareness campaigns and sessions for groups and individuals, mentoring the development of the beneficiaries, responding to his/ her inquiries with respect as well as reports to the field officer her/ his weekly activities. Collect data as per program requirement, Being accountable for the beneficiaries and the organization.

 

Job Function/ Description:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the project team and community stakeholders, facilitating communication, mobilizing participation, and ensuring clear dissemination of project messages through awareness sessions, campaigns, and dialogues promoting tolerance, coexistence, and resilience.
  • Monitor the beneficiaries of project including SMEs and newly Stablished business by designed monitoring tools.
  • Support the formation, capacity-building, and mentoring of community groups and beneficiaries, ensuring respectful responses to inquiries, monitoring participation, and promoting the inclusion of vulnerable groups.
  • Collect high-quality qualitative and quantitative data through observations, focus group discussions, community dialogues, and key informant interviews.
  • Build partnerships with community actors to gather insights, identify capacity needs, and collaboratively design relevant trainings and capacity-building materials.
  • Organize, facilitate, and document workshops, trainings, dialogue sessions, and community events in collaboration with programme staff and local structures, maintaining accurate records and attendance sheets.
  • Contribute to ongoing monitoring, and reporting processes, ensuring activities align with program objectives and progress is documented through weekly reports.
  • Uphold accountability and safeguarding standards by maintaining confidentiality of beneficiary information, adhering to protection policies, and promptly reporting concerns.
  • Support the development and implementation of community resilience strategies by analyzing conflict risks and community vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with all stakeholders to foster community cohesion and ensure the successful delivery of social cohesion activities.

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Good experience of working in project support; at least 1 year of experience working on community-level social issues.
  • Experience training and facilitating workshops on social cohesion topics
  • Good communication skills, and availability for daily field visits.
  • Skills in using data collection tools.
  • Skills in IT & Microsoft software are regarded as an advantage.
