About headspace

headspace provides early intervention mental health services to young people 12 to 25-years old. headspace can help young people with mental health, physical health (including sexual health) alcohol and other drug services, and work and study support.

About the Opportunity

Provide culturally safe support and mentoring to young Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people who are engaged with headspace. You will work with young people and families in a strengths-based and choice-focused way.

The Social and Emotional Wellbeing worker position within headspace Katherine, aims to support young people and their families who present with mental health difficulties. The role of the Social and Emotional Wellbeing worker is to strengthen access to culturally informed, flexible support.

In this role, you will be well supported and work closely with all staff across headspace to provide flexible and thoughtful mental health support. You will aim to help young people understand the impact of mental and physical health and ensure young people feel good about seeking help.

You will hold a certificate IV qualification or similar or willing to complete further study.

Please note: It is a requirement that prior to commencing in this role, you must possess a Working with Children (Ochre Card), a National Criminal History Check (within 3 months) and a current Northern Territory manual driver’s license.

Experience of working closely with and having a strong understanding of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander culture would be considered an advantage.
